Hello,
I've recently purchased a Nikon CoolScan V ED in order to scan some old slides into our medical image archiving software. We actually have two different software packages that we scan images into, and both have worked with multiple TWAIN sources in the past. However, neither of them receive an image from the NikonScan TWAIN driver. Basically when I try to scan an image from my software packages they bring up the NikonScan driver window. I set the settings and click Scan. The Scanner sounds as though it's scanning the slide, but an image never appears, it just hangs there. When scanning directly into NikonScan, however, the scanner does function properly.
I contacted Nikon support, and of course they deflected me saying that it was a problem with my software, but I'm not convinced. Multiple TWAIN compliant scanners have worked fine with both packages, but the Nikon driver doesn't seem to work with either of them. The Nikon support person actually told me that I should look on the internet to see if anyone else had my problem (great support there), and this is the best Nikon talk forum that I know of so I came here. I'm curious if any of you that have the Cool Scan scanners have ever tried to use it as a TWAIN source and scan into something other than NikonScan? And if so, did you ever have any similar issues when doing this? Nikon clearly advertises these scanners as being TWAIN compliant, so it certainly should work.
Any thoughts?
Thanks!
