Canon isn't done just yet...

Just got confirmation on my Canon sales and marketing info today that is to ship after PMA from my contact. I was also asked if I heard about the new Rebel, which I replied "yes", I also asked if everything I had received in a previous email was all that was being announced at PMA, I then added, "but I bet you can't tell me right?" The answer I surprisingly heard back was a slight chuckle and "no, that's not all." I have no idea what that means, maybe a new scanner, printer or Powershot...or maybe more, as eluded to in a previous post.

I agree, but this seems like an odd tactic, wrenching for the guys who are chomping at the bit for a new body, let's hope it's worth the wait and dramatic unveiling (I'm sure).

Re: Canon may be cranking it up actually ..

http://www.digitalcamera.jp/

supposedly, what they are saying is that 2008 will see canon refresh SLR's in every category, including we'll see SED displays instead of LCD.

not sure if anyone can give a translation on the original ..

but it's talked about here:

http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?s=c92f340f38503bf5d817e14e05290f88&t=441962

sort of goes with what we've been hearing is that there will be more releases this year than last (which was 3 bodies..)

New Lens's and Digicams

For sure there are some more bits and pieces waiting to be announced next week. By I am assuming that barring the 1DIIIn and 5DII rekeases of this coming year (my speculation - next fall), we are quite a ways away from the next professional camera.
I'm personally holding out for a mark II revision of the 24-70.

Re: Canon isn't done just yet...

When NIKON was hiding their new camera D300 shots,
it appeared that it was due to bad quality,
to differ from D3 all published for excellent quality.

they all in the market and with same just empty-excite manipulation behavior..

So if Canon hides something that means that all not so good,
need to consider what if some BAD NEWS may appear from Canon.

Re: Canon isn't done just yet...

or maybe Canon is waiting for Nikon to announce before they reveal the latest show of their hand. I am sure the marketing types must like to engage in a little one-upmanship, last round went to Nikon with the D300 and D3

It's over in my opinion...

Canon just don't give a sh*t for their customers... they only care for profits but ok... can you blame them?

I doubt that. It takes time to lock in a design, get it into production, then get it out into the retail end of the business, not something that can be turned around in a short period of time.

SED is for televisions...

Canon is intent on becoming a 6 trillion yen/year company, and they are hoping to grow into some new markets, including displays/televisions. Canon now pretty much controls all of the SED - and while it works it is too expensive.

For cameras the bet is on OLED.

Yes, others have reported that Canon said that WITHIN THIS YEAR they would offer up another "middle class" camera (and as I pointed out in the other thread, for them to reach their market share goal for Japan they will have to ...) but there is no hard date given on when in this year. Nevertheless, I wonder if it really belongs in this forum, or in the 40D forum (where the 5D really ought to have been put, IMO.)

Has it happened before?

Does anyone recall whether Canon has announced a DSLR and then during the same exhibition another DSLR a few days or so later?

I don't seem to recall such announcements.

All main cards of NIKON is open

All main cards of NIKON is open - FF and cropped D300,
no new main lines exists.

Canon just want to exploit your frustrate wait.

Patience

So if It's not now we'll be seeing a new advanced camera from Canon I'd rather be content knowing they are taking their time to build a class-A unit rather than rush something on the market.

It was something like 10 months between the 1Ds II and 5D release, my guess is the 1D engineers are are quite busy while we wait.

Why not publish shedule ?

Why not publish schedule, if Canon generates and uses that waits?

It will be correct to their good clients as we are...

now it is not so.

wait and wait and listen empty words with not denied rumors from CANON...
that all be goog after some something somewhere, but precisely good.

It is not respect to clients,
and not correct behavior on them.

tierd for Patience

I do have to make a descission very soon... I have no camera for almost 1,5 year becauuse I'm waiting...

Re: tierd for Patience

I was comparing 40D and D300,

40D was more precise in color and exposure, - IQ params.

D300 have some features better to use - like liveView, imposed noise filter in camera.

Plextor Forum Member • Posts: 77
To be honest

To be honest, I also think that IQ of 40D and D300 are on par.
But... the new features and LCD etc are much more fun to use it...

That's just a silly statement..

Caring for profits is caring for customers. I don't know much about economics and management but customer satisfaction is not optional if you want to be a successful business. Maybe you are upset because they don't care about you on a personal level producing what you are looking for, but be sure they are making what they think will satisfy the customer. They have to, 35mm SLRs is not a Canon monopole.. yet.

Re: Why not publish shedule ?

If they published a schedule(assuming they could) then people would stop upgrading like mad men. So why would they do that? Because they wouldn't want us to spend our money foolishly? Hahaha.. let's get real, Canon may be a good ethics company (I really do believe that), but they're not your parents or your pastor. Maybe if we showed a little more composure an idea like publishing a schedule wouldn't sound so absurd to Canon.

Edit: plus, their release dates are so clear i am amazed people still have doubts.

xxxD & xxD every 1.5 years;
1D(s) MKx & 5D every 3 years.

just waiting for the confirmation on the 5d cycle.

Re: That's just a silly statement..

Without trying to bash Canon...

I personally think that Canon can deliver much better upgrades than they did with e.g. 30D and 40D...

They just were sitting is a very good relax position ( not much competition)
This is changed since D300 and D3...

For the 5D replacement it's the same reason... no competition...so no upgrade...

I would like a Canon for theiir exellent lens lineup...
