I present:The K20D

Almost

The Norwegian distributor for Samsung has let the cat out of the bag, and has the GX-20 on their website, here's a screen capture:

Specs
14.6 MP (CMOS)
Good old SR
Resistant to rain,sand and dust
Double dust removal on image sensor(whatever that means)
2.7" LCD
Live view
One-press raw(as in K10D I guess)
ISO 3200
Price 10% more than K10D when it was introduced here in Norway

Enjoy!

Well, it's seems to be the good ol' antistatic coating + CCD shake no?

2.7" LCD
Live view

OK I guess...

One-press raw(as in K10D I guess)

Hopefully better implemented (jpegraw instead of jpegRAW+ or RAW RAW+)

ISO 3200

Good, we'll know what it's worth in a few months when the production cameras will be in good hands.

Price 10% more than K10D when it was introduced here in Norway

Hopefully also true in the rest of the world (around $1200 body only seems right).

Still some important info are missing like fps, bit depths in RAW and AF module but all will come in due time I guess...

Thanks for this interesting find!

Re: I present:The K20D

Interresting, but we don't know how it differs from the Pentax yet so the subject for this thread is misleading. It is not K20D you present, it is the GX-20 by Samsung.

The K10D and GX-10 was the same camera, but the new GX-20 may differ more from the new Pentax than previous Samsung has done.

Might mean digital dust removal inaddition to the regular dust removal.

2.7" LCD
Live view
One-press raw(as in K10D I guess)
ISO 3200

How useful will this be. I don't like anything over iso 400 with the K10D. So maybe I can finally get to use iso800.

I wonder how different the Sansung and Pentax versions will be. My guess is that the Pentax will have a 3" screen while the Samsung will have the 2.7" screen. Then again mybe they will be twins again.

We should know by the end of the month.

Re: I present:The K20D

Yeah the double dust removal is probaly the same...

I forgot to add that it also says there; to be introduced in January..

I read that as they are shipping this month, as the other cameras in the press release use the same words to say they are being introduced in February and March...

I bought my K10D in US last year and paid appr. half of the "norwegian" price. K20D will be a lot cheaper in US compare to Norway. No doubt.

Re: I present:The K20D

I'm surprised by the 2.7 inch screen in some ways as I thought it was Samsung that makes the 3inch version in the D300 - this is based on Samsung announcing a 900K 3 inch screen a while ago.

However I guess the LCD is not exactly cheap - especially if its high resolution.

Re: I present:The K20D

Perhaps there was simply not enough room on the body for 3" so they choosed 2.7" instead?

Is it me, or is the body exactly the same as the GX-10? I would have expected at least some minor differences.

Re: I present:The K20D

Well, compared to the 1.8' of my D, I'd take 2.7' any time.

I hope Pentax announces what's got up its sleeve tomorrow, if the press conference in Dubai is really happening. Man, I want one already (if the quality is there).

Btw, I'm about to place a somewhat big order on B&H so before I close it, do you reckon this new camera (and hopefully the Pentax model alike) will use SD cards like the K10D? If so, I shall buy some, as I only have CFs from my D around...

It just seems like a K10D with a new sensor and live view....

That won't happen.
The conference in Dubai is internal only.

The major press conference with product announcements is scheduled for late January, that has not changed. I don't expect any major news before the big product presentation later this month. I can of course be wrong, but...

Re: I present:The K20D

That is too early to tell right now since we don't have the complete specification of the new Samsung. But, it has been said many times that the new cameras will have the same dimensions and probably the same design as the older models - which is not a bad idea. Some new buttons is expected.
The most important thing is the inside, not the outside.
The K10D/GX-10 is a fine design, why change it too much?

Re: I present:The K20D

I see a small protruding thing on the left side of the camera. Can it be the cover of an PC flash contact many people were asking for?
I will be very happy if they incorporate it in the K20!

Good Spot. It does look menacing enough to be the PC sync.

I believe the Samsung has a flip-out live view screen, and the Pentax does not, so no overhead shots. And, get ready to put your head in the dirt for ground level shots.

But the Pentax screen might be 3" still.

I also think that could be the case here. There could still a lot more than the few listed features there.
