Re: Striking

Striking photo. I especially like the perspective you chose in presenting this massive sculpture against the sky. Thanks for posting it.

Fuji DSLR photos for 2007

Well, good to see such great images: I've had such a busy year there's been little time for photography, and even less time for contributing to the forum, but i do still check in from time to time... here's a few from me from 2007:

Happy New Year!

Brunch in Singapore / S3 Pro

The pictures have been made begin of december when I had to stay for a couple of days in Singapore. The location is the restaurant in the Swiss Hotel Equinox on the 70th floor, where you can enjoy a beautiful overview of Singapore.

All pictures are made with available light @ ISO400 using my Fuji S3 and a Tamron 28-75/2.8

Kind regards
Michael

Very nice Jim - thanks for sharing!

I really like #2 - all the arches and what a variance in lighting from shadow to highlight.

Re: Brunch in Singapore / S3 Pro

I like the selective focus and narrow DOF in these.

Hi Jim,

I also like the 2nd one. Excatly what is it. Looks like it could be in a tunnel.

A couple favorites from '07

'08 means a transition to D3 for me, so I'll modify my Fujis and use them as IR-cameras. (By way of Lifepixel.com) I won't be getting any more Fujis, regardless of any new cameras on the horizon.

Re: Post your Favorite Fuji DSLR photos for 2007

Thank you for your kind coment Michael. I do find that I have a higher 'hit rate' with the S5 and I am constantly suprised at its versatility.

Dave

Re: Great work, but why....

Great work as always but why modify all your Fujis? As good as the D3 seems to be, there must be situations when the Fuji's SR sensor is still preferred. Then there's the weight difference between the cameras. The D3 must be a real knuckle buster.

Remember, you can't afford sore hands

Andy and Dave

Thanks for the nice comments!

That second shot is the foundation/catacombs of the Baltimore Basilica. It is a very neat, selectively lit place that I want to spend more time photographing. Here is a link for a few more from there:

can I put this one up? (pic)

here is one of my favorite S3 photographs

taken with available light handheld in Princeton's recently renovated chapel
I took this in 2006 as I have not been using the S3 much in 2007

I was so impressed with the low light performance of both the camera & lens (the Nikkor 28 f1.4 AF) that I put up some unprocessed (no sharpening) full resolution crops of this that you can see here ------> http://www.pbase.com/artichoke/high_iso along with more shooting information & other samples

when I showed this last on FSLRT I foolishly put up an aRGB version which was my custom & which may have been partially responsible for the unfair rap that the S3's images looked washed out
hope you like & will indulge me joining in this thread

Re: Beautiful shot

Thanks for posting that beautiful cathedral shot, which shows both a very steady hand and a fine eye.

The exposure seems right on, too, without loss of detail in the brighter areas while preserving full information in the shadows.
