>>>The Sunday Black & White: Unofficial Release 2<<<

Okay, looks like our first unofficial release was a success. So, it's time again

Those who are wondering why it's unofficial...

1. Well, I voluntered to start this but it doesn't mean that nobody can't start this thread. Anybody is welcome to start the Sunday B&W.

2. If the participation is consistent up to the beginning of 2008 then IMO we have an official Sunday B&W thus I think we can start the official release/issue.

In the issue of image/photo feedback

I think it would be much better if the poster doesn't want a feedback on his/her image to post "no feedback" or similar post.

Why? I would like to suggest that we should make this thread 'lively and informational' as much as possible. I'm no expert and I'm here to learn. It's my understanding that anybody who post their image would at least would like to hear some feedback....."negative or positive"

This is not about perfection but it's about learning from each other for both the....critic and the author of the image.

If you guys don't like this process please let me know.

Cheers
Nick

Nice pano. What camera are you using? It reminds me of Janus shot last sunday. The tone has that aged look at it. Thanks

Almost like a charcoal sketch. Well done. My only nitpick, which I could be wrong, I thought the image is wider in composition.

Re: NYC ;)

Why are all dogs have that kind of look in their eyes? IMO, focussing that close, you might need a higher f-stop to have a deeper DOF. What software/technique dis you use to convert the image?

Re: Nick,

Hi Bill,

I say the first one is worth framing. The 2nd one, almost look like an illustration.

Cheers

The effect of fish-eye is interesting but why not fully convert it to B&W? I played with it and it comes out great in B&W. First, adjust the exposure then convert to B&W. Try it, you might be surprise with the result. But that's just my subjective opinion.

I don't know why but it reminds me of sailboats.

I like the 2nd one, texture shots are always interesting. Nice blurred background too.

This is a very no nonsense right on picture.

It's a little soft and bleach. Maybe, if you have one of these new cameras, Live View could help you setting the focus? If sharpening and increasing the contrast, watch out for halos around edges.

Really, "Content protected by owner" ?

Another oldie, sorry for that...

... I simply haven't had the time to take any pictures the last week. So, I just pick one from the pictures I still have on-line from other occasions:

and a Happy Christmas everyone!

Coming from you, I'm inclined to consider this as a short-cut. I expect new materials every Sunday from now on.

As to the image, nice close-up shot, like she got a lot in her mind. But IMO, the composition is too close. My preference is more on the wide side.

I do hope too, that people should leave some comments. Could it be that some are just afraid to offend the author of the image? IMO, comments/critiques are good learning tools.

Hope you have a wonderful Christmas.
