Random Portraits and cool focus feature for MF lenses

Images in reply.

Tell me what you think of these random portraits. I was playing with the wonderful feature mentioned in another thread on how to set the Camera to Autofocus S when using a manual focus lens, to only allow the shutter to take a picture with focus. This works excellent in conjunction with the continuous shooting feature set through the K10Ds FN button.

What you do is just hold the shutter release button all the way down, and move the camera/adjust focus and as soon as focus is achieve it will snap a bunch of pictures as long as the subject remains focused. I use the single center focal point when I do this.

These were all taken with the SMC Pentax A 50mm at f/1.4

Yep, that is a cool feature and you've used it well with these snaps.

You can also use it with M42 screwmount lenses by either scraping off the black from the back of the lens or placing aluminum foil in such a manner that it will short out the contact pins on the camera body.

The best way I've found to use that feature with AF lenses is to use a Pentax-A 1.4X-S Teleconverter. Now, the camera thinks it has a MF lens attached and you can focus trap with it.

Use the method to capure hummingbirds by prefocusing at the landing point of a flower or feeder, press and lock the wired remote, and the camera will only take a pic when a hummingbird enter the focusing area. It will do this until your battery is depleted or you stop the action.

Use the feature to capture birds in flight with a MF lens also.

Dang great feature IMO.

Cheers.
