Best Simple Web Gallery program?

Hi

I don't usually get excited about programs, but httphotos must be one of the best little gallery creator programs I've seen:

No connection, just very impressed.

httphotos is also a freeware and it has many templates, including Flash based templates.
Did you give it a try?

I also have been using JAlbum, quite happy with it.

Hi

I like JAlbum too as it has many more options, but httphotos impressed me by its simplicity. I think even beginners could use it straight away and get a great Flash gallery with minimum effort.

I couldn't get it to work...

Hi Brian,

I installed it and it returned an error message. I uninstalled it, ran registry cleaners, re-installed and repeated this process three times but was unable to get it to work. Even after uninstalling using the internal "uninstall" then running registry cleaner and fresh reinstall, it immediately returned the error as if reading from a cache.

It sounds like a great program and maybe I will try on a different system to see if I can get it to work for me.

Best regards,

Lin

Re: Best Simple Web Gallery program?

Hello!

First of all, I'm glad some people get excited and welcome a new web gallery software: httphotos
It's made to be fast, simple, against bloatware!

It's not just a web gallery creator, it also helps to select your photos, organize them, touch-up, ...

I didn't expect someone to post about this new release on dpreview now!

In fact, httphotos is just fresh and there may be some little bugs here and there.
The intent was to bring it to a little bit more users so bugs can be fixed.

Now it spreads more and more, which is good, but some people can have a bad experience, like the last post I see here.

When I read that, I feel really confused! I would like to take this opportunity to explain that your bad experience can help us to improve the soft itself, but you have to tell us. You can send us private messages from the about page or use the forum.
Since I'm there, I will also help thru dpreview forum!

Thanks!

Re: I couldn't get it to work...

To Lin Evans:

My guess is that you've loaded some jpeg saved as progressive, and this is not supported for now. As a result, it crashes, saved your project, and each time you try to launch it again, it loads the jpeg and this makes a loop you can't exit!
This will be fixed, but for now what you can do is:
1/ click Start menu
2/ click Run
3/ enter %appdata%
4/ now you see application data folder
5/ select httphotos folder
6/ delete it
7/ you can now re-launch httphotos and try with other pictures
