I took these by tossing a brown microfiber blanket over a 6' long table leaning on the wall. I used two light sources - both are $6.95 "auto work lights" from Wal-Mart that I clipped onto the backs of chairs. The light on the right had a 100 watt "Reveal" bulb and the light on the left had a 60 watt "Reveal" to reduce shadows.
I then set the color balance to sunlight on my e-510 and set it to aperture priority at f4.5 with no flash. This resulted in too much red in the images, but it was sort of the look I was after, so I left it that way.
This is my first attempt at portrait photography.
This one, there was too much light on his shirt and too little on his face, but it was the best of the bunch - mostly due to his lack of posing ;-)
I was quite happy that this worked well without a glare on her glasses:
And of course we had to do a few fun shots:
