Lets hope that these are from the D300, and not from a D3 + typo....

The noise level is simply amazing at ISO 3200, I will place an order on D300 very soon! Thanks for sharing.

Yeah, the same thought crossed my mind. That's why it would have been nice to see EXIF's.

Proper exposure . . . .

. . . . as always is the key to lower noise (and underexposing is often my mistake) -- these images look like they were exposed to the right and that made a big difference in lower noise.

Re: D300 Basketball Shots at ISO 3200

Sorry, but the size of the images (even when looking at the larger pics at flickr.com) is waaaayyyy to small to tell anything. The D2X would have looked the same at that size at ISO 3200. I like what I see from the D300 (when looking at images taken at 12mp) but those images are too small.

Disagree, these are not little "web shots", they are 8" shots

bigger would always be better of course, but these are big enough to tell quite a bit.

No they wouldn't. Download the 1st pic, open in NX and it will stand a bit of enlarging. This is VERY impressive stuff from the D300.

Gotta love that quote, though

Not like you'll be hearing a lot of Canon 40D comparisons to the 1D Mark IIN, which is roughly the same kind of comparison.

Not a lot of folks expressing "wow" about the focus quality, but that's impressing me, too. Not much of a chance of doing that well with the D200.

Re: Proper exposure . . . .

Agree but none the less that D300 looks like a winner to me & I hope to add one later next year.

Re: D300 Basketball Shots at ISO 3200

But for anyone doing PJ work or making 8x10" prints for parents, the quality is plenty good enough.

I only deem noise to be an issue when I see it in a final print.

Re: D300 Basketball Shots at ISO 3200

I shoot with a 20D and 1D MKII and ISO 3200 is a last resort. No way can I get images this clean at 3200. I strongly suspect these ar better than 1600 on my Canons. Glad to see better high ISO shots, hopefully this is a production camera.
