Noticed this earlier today - adds more RAW camera support and a few fixes:

Woohoo, not only can I now see my 40D .CR2 raw images in Vista file explorer, but I can see my 10D .CRW images as well. Now that is very cool and unexpected.

Does this work the same on XP or is it Vista only?

Perhaps you should read the release notes. 64-bit isn't supported.

I found out about it by going to the software updates page for my D60. Hardly secret.

Re: Canon Raw Codec 1.2 for Vista

Well am I missing something: when I go to open a RAW image in the Windows Picture Gallery viewer it takes 30 seconds or more to actually load the RAW file (I see the image but it says "loading" and the whirling dervish spins incessentally). That kind of defeats the purpose esp. when Zoom Browser/DPP or Adobe RAW load the RAW image instantly. What practical use is there for this in Vista? (I have a relatively speedy dual core machine BTW. I edit HD video on it no problem.)

I seldom click on the raw files

I like the thumbnails for viewing in the file folder.

This is nice to have for sure.

Yes, agreed: I get something similar. I'm not sure what the delay is all about.

I do like seeing the preview in the preview panel - it helps identify the picture, along with the file name and date.

Why not let us know?

It seems one-sided when Canon uses registrations to contact us about expensive new things but can't use registrations to notify us of really useful updates.
