Southern CA Sony/KM Photographers?

I thought it might be fun to organize a shoot for anyone interested. I haven't seen much if at all of that on this forum.

I'm thinking an early morning rise, central location for some fall images, or some coast images.

Talk photo, share ideas, meet each other behind the text. Totally informal, everyone brings something interesting to offer. Maybe even do a basic 2 mile hike/walk. I know a lot of the Coastline (but less in the mountain ranges here).

Anyone interested please post!

Re: Southern CA Sony/KM Photographers?

Carl,

I'm in Huntington Beach and have just acquired an A700 and Sony 70-200 2.8G lens. Have been a Minolta fan since I discovered they had a service facility in Los Alimitos (since closed). I had planned to move to Canon if my 7D expired but had a large KM lens inventory that would have been expensive to replace.

Would be interested in joining a group locally.

Congrats on the new acquisitions

There is a nice wildlife preserved down there in HB that I might also be willing to consider. I can bring my 200-500 Tamron/55-200 see what birds we can get.

Since this was an idea i've thought of tonight, it wouldn't be formal to start but maybe we could get group going?

I'm an LA guy... haven't shot as much lately as I'd like, though. Busy with other jobs at the moment. Don't have much awesome glass, though I do have some nicer old primes like the 135/2.8 and 28/2. Right now just me and my 2 A100s (and the 7000, 9000, and 505si...)

I live in Orange County and have been enjoying my A700. I think a meetup sounds like a great idea...

Re: Jonas, where?

Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is easily accessible, and has decent parking available just off PCH in Huntington Beach. Over 200 species of birds visit this reserve located on the Pacific Flyway attracting flocks of birds migrating between North America and South America.

If you tire of bird shooting there is lots of action across PCH at the beach, including surfers, wind surfers, kite surfers, and dogs playing at Dog Beach.

Saturday morning might work best for most. Lots of coffee shops nearby to get together before or after the shoot to compare notes.

I know exactly where you are talking about, thats a great idea.

Maybe we can get others to go as well?

Do an early riser coffee shop meet up? Go out shoot till 9, 10 am then come back and compare notes etc?

Re: San Luis Obispo?

I live in marina del rey but spend a lot of weekends up at the folks house in San Luis Obispo. SLO will always be home. I would love to find some historical places to shoot like missions for example.

Re: Pbc Directions....

We should do directions online so that people know how to get there.

Lets see how many will show up.

Re: Southern CA Sony/KM Photographers?

Looks like we have some interest for a Sony/Konica/Minolta photoshoot at the Bolsa Chica Reserve on Saturday morning, November THIRD, at 0700.

The Bolsa Chica Reserve is located at the north side of Huntington Beach, on the east side of PCH, (Pacific Coast Highway). The reserve is bounded on the north by Warner Avenue. The entrance is about a mile south of Warner street on the east side of PCH, across from Huntington State Beach.
