I was looking for D300 pictures :)

Man, nobody is even talking about D300. I know D3 is much more important camera for Nikon. But why not even a single high ISO or even a good low ISO samples from D300??

Re: I was looking for D300 pictures :)

Nice find. Now to pick at them.... WB looks inconsistent between shots. That is, look at the grass colors. Not a huge thing, just noticed this first.

Notice that they say the lens used for #4 is an AFS VR 500mm f/4G ED? I wonder if they would sell that at a discount since it's now used

Are those shutter speeds typical of sports shots? 1/1000th or faster, up to 1/1600th. Or was that just to test the higher ISOs?

Do you think there is a significance to the fact that Nikon is letting these sports shooters like Ed Betz use their new toys? While there's no quotes, it sounds like these other shooters would agree with Mr. Betz's assessments. Notice the comments about the AF performance, this really has me psyched (even though I'm interested in the d300).

Thanx for posting the link,

Rich

Illustrating what high shutter speed,

made possible by high ISO, can do. In at least 3 of the images, the baseball has been captured by the high shutter speed, which I assume was deliberate. In the ISO 4000 (with High ISO NR Off), the ball is stopped dead and each ball thread is clearly visible.

High shutter speed is what its all about IMO, and these shots are insane!

Good high ISO performance can make or break the photo. As a D1H user I know this first hand. Many a photo would not have come out if I could not comfortably dial the ISO up above 1000 to gain the shutter speed needed to stop the motion.

I need one of these! was leaning towards the D300, but I think I would always kick myself for not spending the $ on a D3....

If you look at the bottom of any image, there's a link to the full size version (apart form the last one which has a wrong link pointing to a D40x image).

Notice the Nikon brand in the background...

Nice to know that Nikon marketing is back.

I will keep myself from doing comments when I see full resolution pictures or at least wider than 400x200px images

to me this is the best one, 6400, NR Low

http://www.digitalreview.ca/Content/Nikon-D3-Digital-SLR-Sample-Image-4.shtml

At 6400, looks pretty good, especially since it's a jpeg with NR set to low!
