How do I turn off the timer on my 20D?
Some how I accidently turned the timer on and can't figure out how to turn it off.
Also is there a special camera release cord for a digital camera? I have one from my old Nikon.
Press the drive/iso button on the top of the camera and turn the wheel to go from single shot, multi shot, or timer mode. (I remember doing this a few days after I got my 10D.)
Yes the 20D requires a special release cable. Check B&H etc. for the part number.

If you mean the self timer, you need to push the DRIVE/ISO button and use the top wheel to change the drive mode until the icon (on the right side of the status screen) just shows a rectangle ("single shot").

Well, for this digital camera you need the Canon RS-80N3 remote release switch (or a third-party equivalent).
