well yeah, but i'll admit it's looking like a gathering of pace again in the rumourmill. Seems not unreasonable in a lot of ways.

however, a d300 is hugely unlikely - why on earth would Nikon do another semi-pro body when they need to update their pro line? That's just daft.

Never understand why people need a replacement to d200.. cripes, i waited 3yrs for the d100 upgrade LOL... and was not impatient at all before it was announced either.

Re: lets not hold our breath - but things may be coming!

You feel the D300 is "unlikely", and I agree what is most likely is a "D3" or whatever it is named. However, earlier rumors talked about 3 new bodies, a pro body (D3), a D200x/D300, and "something between the D80 and D200", as well as 15 new lenses. I for one am real hopeful that they really do announce 3 new bodies. Remember, no one expected a D40 or D40x either. As for the 15 new lenses, if true, I expect that most are existing AF lenses becoming AFS, and/or VR being added to leses like the 300 f4.

Hopefully we will all know very soon!

Re: lets not hold our breath (nt)

A D300 could have features of D200 incased in same great body but with a Sony 1.1/1.0 FF sensor hopefully being par or close to 5d noise.

Re: lets not hold our breath - but things may be coming!

Lord knows what will happen if anything. Canon wide angle lenses get a lot of criticism about the edges. Maybe Nikon are introducing a new 1.1x standard, and some matching wides.

I somehow doubt the D200 will be replaced. It is selling well, and is holding its own. We shall see.

A camera between the D80 and the D200 IMO is pointless. We shall see.

A D3? Maybe. We shall see.

The fact that the 1DIII is now receiving a lot of criticism from users is surely cheering to Nikon execs.

Now is this the D3 that was being announced at PMA this year, or the one at PMA last year, or the one the year before that....?

again in the rumourmill. Seems not unreasonable in a lot of ways.

there's been a gathering of pace on the rumormill now about a dozen times since 2004, over the d3. a lot of it seemed reasonable then, too.

however, a d300 is hugely unlikely - why on earth would Nikon do
another semi-pro body when they need to update their pro line?

yes, i think they generally introduce the pro body, and then the offshoots. d1, then d100. d2, then d200.

waited 3yrs for the d100 upgrade LOL... and was not impatient at

my d200 will be sufficient for me until it stops working. which i hope is a long, long time from now.

i'm not gonna hold my breath over "full-frame" or nearly "full frame" nikon cameras, either. it'd be nice, i agree.

Re: Which year? (nt)

It has to be this year. Nikon can't let the top end of their camera line sit stagnant much longer.
The next generation is here and Canon has broken the ice first.

Nikon would be wise to get their new cam into the spotlight before Sony/ Pentax/Olympus/(whoever else) bring out their flagships.
Just my thoughts.

With the way things have been going, it will probably be a D40xl with 12 MP sensor in the same body!

I suspect there's plenty of life left in the rumourmill.

After all, plenty of people believe a certain well-known religious figure (last seen 200 centuries ago), will return any day now.

The D3-announcement rumour is just getting started!

Shooter released on June 26th?

Hmmm..... June 26 is the day that the movie "Shooter" is released on DVD. Could be a good day to announce a new pro shooter camera.
