Can we get rid of Xania?

You know many of us have probably on occasion broken some of the forums rules. Hopefully we learn from this and become a better person. It may take an effort to learn internet etiquitte. At least it has been for me.

Now to my subject, Xaina. She has been nothing but high handed and insulting to so many people. Not just an occasional display of bad manners but an on going attitude and she is refusing to learn or to change.

It has been suggested by more than a few that she should be ignored. But just now as I was trying and read a post started from someone I know personnaly and then I read so many over the top judgemental comments by Xania to many people on the thread that I see she is just not going to leave us alone.

I understand that she compares all Leica owners to H.C.B. and that would be all right if she just would stop there. But she always goes on and insults people who post images here in the Leica Talk Forum.

At this point I think she should be given a strern warning frm Phil and if she continues in her way's I suggest that she is permenintly banned.

Re: Can we get rid of Ixania?

There is a "complaint" button at the bottom of every post. Try that (on HER posts not just any post).

I don't know if there is an ignore feature here (I've never really had to use that anywhere anyway).

But personally, looking back at her posts recently dogging on everyone else's images, I'd just say "let's see YOUR work!"

You know, "put up or shut up".

The put up or shut up bit has been used over and over again. I think another round of complaints will be the only answer. Complaints have been done before.

As a partial solution, you can block her posts from appearing on your screen, in your account preferences. The somewhat surreal result is that you get everyone else's comments about what she said, but not her actual posts.

And if no one would respond to her posts, that would pretty much accomplish just what we're trying to achieve.

Re: Can we get rid of Ixania ? Don't shoot the troll !

Hi Peter, in the same way as I like the thought of knowing there are wolves and bears in the woods, I like the thought of knowing their a couple of trolls strolling about in the forum. At times, trolls are a nuisance, but as I see it, they should keep us sharp and focused. And for every single one you expel another one will emerge from the depths of darkrooms, so better ignore them and certainly don't feed them !

All the best and happy shooting - that is pictures, not trolls

I'm afraid that comments like this one by Ixania, "and what about hitler? have to kill some jews before being allowed to say a word or two about him?" go beyond simple "trollness". Way beyond troll, way beyond appropriate, and way beyond acceptable.

I would agree.

Why not post the link to that post and then anyone who feels it worthy of a complaint can file one from that post.

This is a bit rich...

...coming from you - the last person on this forum who has any right to complain about other people's offensive posting behaviour.

Since when did photographers think censorship was a good thing? They have often stood up for the voice of dissent in situations far more dangerous than a web forum.

We don't need to run and tell tales to teacher. A good shunning should do the trick. As has already been said, if you don't like Ixania's posts, just ignore them.

Re: Can we get rid of Xania?

Sure Peter....

YOU decide who should be allowed here on the internet...
Anyone who YOU decide shouldn't be allowed to post will be removed...

Anyone who posts something YOU don't like should be removed...

If you don't like her comments...IGNORE THEM...

Thats what I try to do with YOURS !

Peter isn't causing the problem here. Have you read Phil's forum rules and then applied them to Ixonia's regular posting behavior?

As has already been said, if you don't like
Ixania's posts, just ignore them.

That has been the best approach, until recently. Ixonia made some suggestions and comparisons to someone here that CLEARLY broke PHIL'S rules.

I reported a complaint last night, specifically noting her comparison to someone here to that of the nazis. I tried to bring up that remark, but now I see that Phil has apparently removed it.

Peter Nelson hinself once called someone a Nazi in this forum. That's why I say he is the last person entitled to complain about anyone else's posting behaviour.

The post you made your official complaint about was not what Peter Nelson was complaining about. He had just had a run in with Ixania on another thread. Ixania was being her usual obnoxious self and Peter Nelson of all people gave her lecture on "proper internet etiquette". I don't think he's qualified to do that. If he's tired of reading her remarks, as he put it, the remedy is not to read them.

Better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to speak and remove all doubt. Anger management is a time consuming by product of this, Enjoy ...................

There's few enough trolls around here

Ixania can be quite a reality check (although often an obnoxious one).
How do you knew she is a she?

If she/he IS a troll (which I assume) then being antagonised is just what's expected - and argument was the intention, and rising to it is rather foolish.

Ah well

best wishes to all (including ixania)
