Z850 - Firmware 1.2B - some questions

Just bought a Z850. Read many posts in this forum over past couple of months, so the case for updating from 1.0 to 1.2B was a no brainer. I think we owe a thank you to Leonardo and others for their tenacity in focusing Casio’s attention on the issues.

I have some questions -

1) I am aware of the main things we get with 1.2B such as SDHC support, HQ video fix without loss of still image quality etc. But are there any other detailed changes, improvements and even downsides with 1.2B when compared to 1.0? No mention on Casio web site. For example, does 1.2B overcome the 10-minute movie limit? I guess what I'm asking is that if you're not interested in HQ movies or SDHC, is there still any point in doing the update? I did it anyway ‘cos I like to be current….:O).

2) Curiously, the EX-Z850.BIN file (7013 kb) was rejected as too large when I tried to copy it to the root of internal memory. Internal memory contained just 3 empty folders - DCIM, MSCENE, SCENE. So I was forced to update via SD card instead. What are the MSCENE, SCENE folders and why the rejection of the .BIN file by internal memory?

Many thanks

Re: Z850 - Firmware 1.2B - some questions

As far as I can tell, the only corrections for the 1.20 or 1.20b updates area fix for the better video firmware's 1.1b poor still shots and support for 8gb sd cards in both firmware.

I believe, and someone can correct me, that the 10 minute limit to movies is a European thing, due to legal reasons.

My USA z850 has no limit to movies, and I see folders: DCIM\100CASIO

MSCENE and SCENE are the places where the user defined "BestShots" are kept if as and when you make one.

Regarding the rejection, the Casio internal free user memory is very close to the size of the BIN size. Might simply have not fit after overhead is taken into account. Just a speculation.
