What do the letter'TV' stand for in 'Shutter priority'?

I can't figure out why Canon labeled the G2's shutter-speed priority setting with the letters 'TV'.

Anybody know the poop?

just a guess...
av => aperature value?
tv => time value?

time value perhaps?

probably "Time Value" but i'm just guessing here. this is going by the logic which suggests "Av" means "Apeture Value"

If we have apertures and shutter speeds, why don't we have AV and SV? :0)

Re: What do the letter'TV' stand for in 'Shutter priority'?

I most likely came out as TV instead of SV due to Japanese translations.

No I don't think so :-). Look at any other SLR or brands. It's always Tv.

Maybe not, it was just a guess. But, aren't Canon, Nikon, Minolta, Olympus, Pentax & Fuji, (any other major SLR players I have missed?) all Japanese companies?

Not True. Take a look at the Nikon N80. It uses an 'S' for shutter mode.

Re: What do the letter'TV' stand for in ... Canonese

Isn't Av/Tv Canonese?

I don't recall seeing it anywhere else. I thought Minolta, Olympus and Nikon call these modes A=Aperture Priority and S=Shutter Priority. GKL

From DPreview link...

The FinePix S2 Pro is expected to be available from July with an estimated body price of under £3,000 including VAT.

How much is that in U.S. Dollars?
