D40 vs. D70 viewfinder

Do the D40 and the D70 have the same viewfinder? I was able to check out the D40 in a store and liked the viewfinder, but there was no D70 to examine.

Thanks for any help.

Apparently, according to this page:

http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond40/page4.asp

The D40's viewfinder is just a little bit larger than that of the D50: and the D50 in turn has about the same viewfinder as the D70. So I'd say it's a bit bigger than that of the D70, but not too much.

Significant Brightness..

As a former owner of the D50 and a present owner of the D40 (I had both in my possession for a week before I sold the D50) I can tell you that the brightness difference between the two is very significant. The D40 has a much brighter (and somewhat larger) viewfinder. I may be wrong, but I believe that the D70(s) viewfinder is the same as the D50.

Re: Significant Brightness..

I was concidering the D70s before I purchased my D40 and I'll tell you that one of the biggest reasons I went with the D40 was the viewfinder.

If I hadn't looked through a D40 or D80 I might not have know what I was missing, but I the viewfinder on the D70s was noticably smaller and dimmer.

Re: Significant Brightness Advantage..

It was mentioned in passing in various reviews. I was very surprised to actually see a much greater difference than I expected. A definite plus for the D40 for many people.
