NIKON Super Challenge #4 - Red

Sorry for the slight delay but I'm currently on vacation and have totally forgotten my taking part in the last challenge. First of all I'd like to thank Mark (sorry Mark :-P) for conducting number three and all the participants for posting many wonderful pictures.

Now I'd like to invite you to the fourth NSC. The theme is ...

R-E-D

I think the theme should be self-explanatory

The challenge starts NOW and will run until February 23rd 2007 00:00:00 GMT

As usual the host will pick the winners myself after the challenge is over. The winner then chooses a theme and runs the next challenge.

Good luck!

Challenge rules

The host gives you a topic of interest and you get going. You post ONE image. The host chooses the winner. The decision of the judge (the Host!) is final. The judge is not eligible. The winner then chooses the next topic, runs the challenge, judges the winner and passes on the baton to that person.

Any picture you've taken is eligible regardless of time taken and camera it was taken with.

You can do all the post processing you want. However, it is most helpful if you list your camera and lens along with your photo. Feel free to comment on other contestant's images. If you want someone to leave you a piece of constructive criticism, put an asterisk ( ) next to the title of your image.

When posting your picture, reply to the main thread message (!) and change the subject of your post to display your picture title. This way, when someone comments (i.e. replies), it will read your photo's title. If all entries read "Re: Nikon Super Challenge #4"... it will be very boring to scan the list. Furthermore it will save the host a lot of time while judging entries.

Either embed your image in the thread or, if you MUST, supply a link to it. Keep in mind, however, most people don't want to click to open photos hosted elsewhere (i.e. on your website). Also try to resize your photos prior to posting so they're sized appropriately for viewing without having to scroll ( 800 pixels on the longest side works best.)

And how do you embed a picture? I'm glad you asked:

1. While your photo on Pbase (or any other web site) is open, copy the URL address from the address box on your tool bar, then paste it into your reply thread. Add a .jpg extension to get the photo to show up. Click on preview to make sure it's what you want.

or

2. Right click on the image in Pbase (or where ever you've hosted it), click on "Properties"... highlight the link with the .jpg extension on it and paste it into your message text.

Provide any additional information concerning your entry you want.

Good luck!

Taken at the National Zoo in DC. I think this flower is called a Anturio. I found it in the aviary.

This shot was captured at a fun booth in a charity event called the SMRT Cram Jam Challenge. The event had raised around S$50,000 for the SMRT Silver Tribute Fund, which will benefit 8 charity organizations for the elderly.
