self focus adjust for dl,ds,ds2,k100d.

hi,

Here's come How-to-adjust dl, ds, ds2, k100d!!

I can't find exact source of this, because it is wide spreaded.

If your pentax camera scribed above have problem with focus, you can adjust it yourself.

And Of course, You yourself is responsible for doing something scribed below.

STEP
1. Power OFF
While pressing [AE-L]+[INFO], turn the camera on.
Firmware is desplayed on LCD.
Press [MENU]-> [MENU]-> [INFO] within 5 seconds.
You can see DEBUG mode screen.
By pressing [Right key],Make [DEBUG MODE DIS] to [DEBUG MODE EN].
Then, Press [OK].

2. Press [MENU], you can see setup menu.
By pressing [Up key], select AF TEST.
By pressing [Right key], go into AF TEST menu.
By pressing [Down key], select FOCUS CORR.
now you can adjust shift amount by pressing [right key] or [left key].
( Don't touch AF Area Test.)
after changing the value, Press [OK] to save.
3. Test your camera that Focus is corrected.
(repeat step 2. till you satisfy the result.)
4. Power OFF
While pressing [AE-L]+[INFO], turn the camera on.
Firmware is desplayed on LCD.
Press [MENU]-> [MENU]-> [INFO] within 5 seconds.
You can see DEBUG mode screen.
By pressing [Right key],Make [DEBUG MODE EN] to [DEBUG MODE DIS].
Then, Press [OK].
5. Go out and enjoy!!

Again, You YOURSELF is responsible for doing this process.

Hey look, no screwdriver required

You probably couldn't see it, but I did my Happy Dance just now.

I'd been waiting for my DL's warranty to expire before I was going to try the mechanical adjustments that have been posted here before.

But I went ahead with this, and in the first couple of tests was able to get obviously improved autofocus on my FA50/1.4 wide open. I don't have any other AF lenses with such wide aperture so don't think it can throw others off significantly. Besides, to be honest, the50mm seldom comes off the camera.

Doesn't seem this should void a warranty, but right now I almost wouldn't care if it did. Nice that I know how to put it back if I ever need to. Pretty easy.

Thanks!

Right after turning the debug mode on, when I pres MENU, I have a 'waiting HS' message on the screen and nothing happens...this is on my DS...does anyone has the same message?

Yep.

Also to add to the body of knowledge ... this also works on ver 1.00 firmware on the Samsung GX-1S firmware.

Omit the OK button after selecting DEBUG MODE and go directly to press MENU.

As a matter on interest, what about the D?

Not that I have a focus problem on my *ist D, but there maybe some that do. Is there a focus adjustment for the *ist D? As far as I know there is no mechanical adjustment, so maybe there is a software adjustment.
