Re: 1D and 1Ds/mk2 Actuations?

if it's not too much trouble, can I get in on that too?

I'd rather save you the trouble and just do it myself, but I can't get my 1D or my 1Ds/mk2 to communicate with the cannon software like they are supposed to

I would really appreciate knowing the frame counts of both so I can reset the photo# to 0000 and keep a running log from that point forward ... good info to have, especially if I ever sell one of them

thank for any help you can offer

Re: Free Software for EXIF data

Try using the free software available as a Windows download from http://www.exifer.friedemann.info . It's been around for a few years so does have any specific formating for model dependent features in the latest cameras.

The actuation count is contained in the "uncoded" section - but is easy to spot by simply looking at a few photos taken in sequence and spotting the number that increases by 1 for each image. I have used it successfully for 1D MkII and MkII N's so should be OK with others in the 1D range.
