Re: Minolta Shirts / Hats - Were?

When I sent my 7D in for calibration (to NJ), I asked Phil about shirts. When my camera came back, enclosed with the camera was a "Shake Your Body" Maxxum 7D tee shirt. At that time Phil said they were discontinued and he would try to find something...That was back in 6/05.
This is the only shirt I've ever seen.

Re: Shirts? Yes!

Right about the time that it was announced that Sony taking over, I bought a very nice polo shirt on eBay, black, with the MAXXUM 7D logo across the top left. I'll see if I can snap a photo and post it.

Wow! The heck with a shirt. The logo pocket knife would be great.

I checked ebay and came up with nothing.

All of that stuff could be made for pennies

If someone wants to lay out a G and make pens, knives (cost is $3 each), shirts, sweatshirts, it's all cheap. Any print or graffix shop will do it. Minolta logos are in their database, there's nothing extraordinary in it.

KC,

Would KM royalty cost for name come into play?

Rats- Wrong Button Re: All of that stuff could be made for pennies

A pocket knife at TRMiller for $3 bucks in quantity of 150 units.

Now, what to do with the other 149?

Doesn't Kilpatrick... [m]

sell this, ah um, stuff on his alternate ego site? Check is profile or a post from him for a link that will eventually get you there. I think he has bags, straps, hats and such.

The knife, that's an odd one. Must be for cutting film strips into five or six frame sections.

Aeons ago we used to. For 20 years we sold Minolta logo gear - baseball caps, sweatshirts, pens, keyrings, mousemats, all sorts of stuff. Right now we are down to a few of the CF card wallets left, a handful of nice alloy CF/PCMCIA card cases (not put on eBay yet), loads of straps with the European Dynax name on them (of course) and a bit of trivia. Some bags, some backpacks, some lens/flash/digicam cases.

But no shirts!

Around 2000, the price of the Japanese branded goods became too high. Minolta UK discovered that Minolta Canada had really gone to town with a whole wardrobe of fleeces, hats, polo shirts - the lot. The Club had always sold these, but Min UK decided they would like to stock all these and do the fulfilment. So that's what we did for three years. When Con-Min took over, this stuff disappeared. They had no interest in the old Minolta logo, and no intention of pushing the new Konica Minolta logo except on goods like the bags and cases which were used to package kits for big retailers.

I do have the original Minolta and Konica Minolta artwork files for all logos, and I have a very good sportwear branding specialist 200 yards away (ProMotif, they do all the Scottish rugger shirts). But this is not cheap logo-wear it's functional sportswear for real teams, or else it is up in the Pringle knitwear bracket with embroidered logos. So I have never felt able to invest in stock.

Whew! I wasn't imagining it

Thanks for the update sir. I found the history piece very interesting.

I did imagine the hats were still some where on your site though.

Military style jungle hats with the Minolta logo (stripped circular globe in place of the "O" in Minolta) on them would have been useful to photographers. Much better than baseball caps. No sun-burned ears. he he

I'll be putting a bunch of stuff on eBay in the next few weeks. I even have a windshield shade thing, a drink can insulator, a Maxxum v-neck sweater and other stuff I can't remember until I open some boxes now in storage.

If you're into it, I may even part with my unworn Minolta/Bruce Jenner track meet windbreaker.
