More lens nicknames...

Hi all,

Just thought I'd try and add some lens nicknames to the already long list here on th dpr canon lens forum. If you have come up with a witty nn for your lens, by all means include it here. My submitions:

Sigma 20mm f/1.8 - "the coffee grinder" - so named because it sounds like a coffee grinder when it af's.

mp e65mm f/2.8 - "the mole" - because it's a "near sighted" lens.

28-135mm IS - "the dust trumpet" - obviously a take-off of the dust trombone, just the smaller version. Like the 100-400 IS, a great lens in its own right, but it sucks dust :(.

Happy shooting,

Ian

Indy?

When I opened the box my 135/2 L came in, it almost blinded me. The thing was shining golden light, even through the cracks when I started to lift the cover. Just like in Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark.

70-200 f/2.8 IS

I prefer to call it the thermos bottle.

I use a wine taster's picnic backpack to haul my stuff around and the 70-200 f/2.8 IS fits perfectly in the bottom of the bag.

That and, without the hood it kind of looks like a thermos bottle.

Tamronator = Tamron 17-50 f/2.8

Because of the unique higher pitch of it's AF reminds me of the sound the terminators make after their 'skin' has been removed. That, and they pretty much lay waste to most of their competitors.

I've always heard the EF 100-400 IS being called "the dust pump".

Oh this is very funny. I can not think of many post on this forum concerning the 28-135 IS sucking dust. But a bit over a year ago I used this lens as an example of another lens that might be a dust pump...at least if the 100-400 was to be considered as one. But I used it as an example that supported the 100-400 as not being a dust pump because the 28-135 was not . LOL And now I see the 28-135 being accused of being a mini dust pump.

Dog or tail?

Because mine is very quiet, and certainly sounds nothing like a coffee grinder.
