Re: SONY

Clearly a KM inspired design. Looks based on the 5D body exterior.
has some extra WB options... Maybe one more exposure option.
The label for the timer is larger and not on the button.

Is this the first or 1 of 2...

I wonder what the back looks like. More controls.. I would miss the lack of buttons of the 7D less if there is a good UI and many user memories I can create my on settings groups.

I know we have to be careful because you can photoshop anything, but it fits the latest image silhouette on the Sony site...Hmmm

It looks real to me...

The lens still suggests pre-production or so, no brand label on it. On top of body's most right side, ther's only 1 knob instead of one & of left side dial there are 7 selections instead of 4 (compared to 5d)..the body shape is also very much like the silhoutte on sony site.
More details please...can't wait now!

If this is what's planned.......... Hello Canon.

Clearly aimed at consumer market. NO grip possible, plastic body.

I refuse to wait for six more months or so to see what's coming.

Ron

If its real, it's a 5D successor.

And therefore no ExpComp-dial.

I doubt thats actual the function of the dial we don't know whats on the back

But I prefer the 5D exposure compensation control to a top dial. I don't have to move my hands from shooting position. I dial is so very Canon...

Simple thumb press and front dial roll and it is done. Hand near leaves the lens.

I know that is a solid fanbase for knobs.. but they are really hard to update and improve with a firmware download

The picture is a put on. A joke.

Some of these posts here are really comical.

This is a Photoshopped picture of the Maxxum 5D. How anyone can be seriously reacting to this post is beyond me.

It is nothing but a put on.

How can you tell that from a picture.

Ron van Elst wrote:

There is no way you can tell what the body is made of and metal is highly overrated.. That why they are building jets from composites these days.

Not sure if you don't' like the grip there which looks like the 5D, that works well or some how you divined there is no battery grip possible without seeing the underside.

But I already can tell some are ready to jump on the "I want an amazing new camera, with no real innovation or risks" band waggon.

What if it is dead smack between the 5D and 7D
AS, 10 MP, more WB and exposure options and user memories.

If it comes in at a $1000 that is the heart of Canon's line up.

Those of us enjoying our 5Ds would appreciate it if the coming barage of Sony insults isn't based on them adopting some of the 5D asthetics.

IThe 5D is a D@MN nice camera.. and a good photographer can do wonders with it.

I dont think this is a photoshopped 5D or 7D. Compare the pictures - there are subtle differences in the body design that would be really hard to photoshop.

Man, you must have spent hours on end!

Nice try, but I don't buy it. A link to a Sony site with pictures would be more convincing.

You might be right, but I am looking at my 5D and it isn't just a tweeked 5D.

The Body dimensions and astehtics a are smoother. All the angles are different. None of the controls match the 5D design, just simular location.

And there are some specifc changes like the timer, exposure type label that are not what I would expect in a dummied up 5D.. but could see might have come from some issues with the old icon being too small and confusing.

Plus the added WB wheel features...This would have been harder to make if you started with a 5D body. Easier to model in a 3D program and render.

Have fun on the Canon Talk Forums. Good luck.

Ron,

If you are that easily fooled, then it may be time for you to move on.

You made a number of out rageous conclusions based on someones Photoshopped picture of a Maxxum 5D. LOL

You may be the perfect candidate for the Canon site.

Where did you get six months more to wait? You must of pulled that one out of a hat.

Either you are playing the game at being very silly and having fun with this or you are being very foolish. Which one is it?

Except this isn't from a Site... If it is real, it a from a dealer or press kit and is a leak. Right now if there is a June 6th announcement coming. They are starting to give materials to their Sony sales and marketing team. They are at the very least giving full product kits to large buyers for advanced orders. All hte mags have press kits so because the June / July issues are being put to bed.

This is about the time I would expect the first leaks to happen. Too many outsiders are getting materials.

Off to bed I am betting this becomes a very popular thread overnight!!!

I don't know why I cared enough to hunt this down because it's so obviously a fake. But here you go:

It is exactly a doctored picture of the Maxxum 5D.

I have the Maxxum 5D and that picture is not only identical my 5D, it is a picture of my camera. It is the Maxxum 5D.

You better start to learn more about Photoshop and how to identify cameras. It is the Maxxum 5D.

You are really showing your lack of knowledge, both in cameras and in using Photoshop. You are too funny. LOL
