E-10 + FL-40 + $$$ = e1?

I broke down and picked up an FL-50 today, giving rise to the equation above.

Thoughts on how much "$$$" is? Would you do it?

I am not sure and most of the time way off.......

I would think the E-10 would go for around $250.
The flash somewhere around $150.

So that should give you a great start. In fact that should do it from what I have seen them selling for lately.

In a heart beat....................

I have been thinking about getting another body so when I go out I can have the 50-200 and a smaller lens at the same time.

Granted the E10 is nice but C'mon... it's a fixed lensed, snailspaced noisebeast compared to the tough stormtrooper of a beast & probably the best 5mp cam on the planet in the E1 that you already have lenses for....

I really can't believe you're having any difficulty in making the decision on your own...

I hate the Baggage Handling concept but if that leica OIS lens ever spawns a weatherproof 50-200mm version... You'll have better than Uzi reach that can handle any weather.... Hell, even without any other lenses, not having to worry in the rain has got to be worth the current price of admission....

Like Nike says" Just Do It". Trust me, grab a nice E-1 body now while the getting is good. My "demo" E-1 came in as new condition with 30 actuations on it and a full one year warranty. Used bodies are selling in the $400-$450 range every day of the week on Ebay. Just be sure if buying used from a private seller to ask them for that shutter actuation count. It'll at least give you some idea of just how "used" it is.

Well, given your current arsenal it would seem...

Inigo,

... that the E-10 will not be getting much work and unless you keep the FL-40 for use with the UZI it probably won't have much to do either. Then of course you could dump the whole bag including the UZI and wind up with something left over probably.

It does seem like a pretty good opportunity if you have a yen for the very fine E-1.

Would the E-300 get left behind if the E-1 pleases more? Or perhaps you'll become a double fisted shooter?

It really doesn't seem to tough to sort it out given that the E-1 has to be about as big a gift right now as the UZI's were when Comp USA blew 'em out at $350.00. Dang, I could have bought eight of them at one point back then. I'm still kicking myself around for being to timid to do it.

Looking forward to seeing the E-1 images. LOL!

Best Regards,

You have the lenses.....

and the E-1 bodies are going for about a little over $400 from Cameta. Even I have a bid on one right now, just don't bid on my auction!

OK, which one is it that we aren't supposed to...

TK,

... bid on? Dang, it seems like everyone is going to the E-1.

Well, Ross and I will be stuborn anyway, right Ross?

I heard that you can avoid the bidding and just call and make an offer. Don't know if it is true or not though. Might be worth a try.

Best Regards & Good Luck,

That's kind of my idea here... have both long and short w/out having to do a lense swap.

Of course I can do that now with the E-10 covering 35-140mm, but I'm still missing the low end of the 14-54's range.

In case you miss my question in the "deja vu" thread -- how loud is the E-1's shutter? Michael Meissner pointed out that the E-10 is very quiet -- and I know my E-300 is too loud for shooting during school chorus shows, etc.

Oh no! Not me. Remember that I'm still...

TK,

... waitin' for the Uber-UZI so I can "I told ya so Ross!", and that will be fun.

I've got the E-10 for when I need the extra heft and that will do me for now. I took it out yesterday and headed to the beach in hopes of some heavy surf shots, but all for naught. The weather turned befor I got there, so not a single release.

I read the other forum daily for the humor it affords. Seems like their sand box is getting a bit fouled if you take my drift.

Let's see what our good friend Inigo does.

Never used it with the Uzi -- I don't even have the right cable.

Then of course you could dump the whole bag including the
UZI and wind up with something left over probably.

Excuse me, but for a minute there I thought you were suggesting that I get rid of my Uzi.

It does seem like a pretty good opportunity if you have a yen for
the very fine E-1.

I don't need it, but it does look like it may be too good a deal to pass on. Plus, it would give me a full weather-sealed option.

Would the E-300 get left behind if the E-1 pleases more? Or perhaps
you'll become a double fisted shooter?

More likely double fisted. The E-300 could get left behind in some situations -- like rainy days. But for informal indoor things, the E-1 lacks a pop-up flash so the E-300 would go for that (or even the Uzi).

It really doesn't seem to tough to sort it out given that the E-1
has to be about as big a gift right now as the UZI's were when Comp
USA blew 'em out at $350.00. Dang, I could have bought eight of
them at one point back then. I'm still kicking myself around for

I know what you mean. If I'd only had "extras" around when the mad Uzi buyer was on the loose, I'd have a whole bunch more equipment to play with.

Looking forward to seeing the E-1 images. LOL!

Time will tell....

Yes, I have the lenses, which is why -- for me -- it's more of a "trade" -- someone like John who'd end up with just a body and nothing to put on it.

Your Uber-Uzi & mine are of

differing criteria.... Mine's still a fixed lens... Yours is an 'EViL'-Cam, replete with baggage & expense, if I comprehend your descriptions correctly....

I'm sorry to hear that, Bill....

I've been pretty careful over there and don't post much. The climate here is much more comfortable but if I want to read anything about equipment, I have to venture into dangerous water!

I sure hope that Ben hasn't gotten it again.
