I have an S70, and the corner softness has never bothered me. Printing at A4 it looks excellent, and is more than acceptable printed to A3.

However, the S80 pictures have the same over cooked JPEG look as the S70. Once I discovered RAW capture, my photos were transformed. Much more natural colour, and total control over sharpness and noise removal.

When my S70 eventually dies, I'll either buy something basic like a Canon A410, or spend more on a Konica-Minolta. They are the only other manufacturer to buffer RAW files, and seem to produce a good camera.

It's a real shame. JPEG is fine for snaps, but not for real keepers. RAW made the S70's output look so much more professional.
