Africa Chapter 1 (imgs)

Dear dpr guys, I'm finally back home....I don't want to bore you with unuseful words about my trip, the bad weather and so on....just post a first selection of images....tomorrow I will post an other one if you don't mind, of course.

I post them randomly, and I'll be happy to be more specific if you need further info on something....

Ok....for today is more than enough....

Some of the Best

It's some of the best photography I have seen. Not just on DP Review, but some of the best period. I seriously am viewing in awe; would love for you to share details about the trip: Where you stayed, How long you were there, etc.

Some details

as kindly requested....gear used was 2 old D100 bodies used mostly with the fantastic 200-400 F4 VR and the 70-200 f2,8 VR, some chimpa portraits were done with 105 Macro F2,8.....other lens used were 12-24 F4, 28-70 F2,8, beanbag or handheld, thanks to VR.....

The trip was form Kenya, Amboseli, Lake Bogoria and Nakuru in the Rift Valley, then Uganda (Ngamba Island on Victoria Lake for Chimpa, Bwindi impenetrable forest for mountain gorillas tracking) than moved to Ruanda for some other good gorilla tracking on the Virunga volcanoes...and after that back to Kenya again for Migration in the Masai Mara.......

One other thing

I used to work for National Geographic for many years, and have handled thousands of Natty Geo level photographs - and these are on par with that quality. Beautiful job. You should have a magazine article devoted to these pictures.

Amazing!

Absolutely amazing! What I like most is that it doesn't matter what body your used for these shots! I wish more people on this site would focus more on shooting vs. WHAT they're shooting with. Your work clearly exemplifies this. Bravo, and thanks for sharing this body of work. Much appreciated. Best I've seen on this forum.

Fantastic...

What an opening piece. I loved them all. Just goes to show what the old D100 can still do.

Would you mind sharing some of you PP with me?

Re: Africa Chapter 1 (imgs)

very inspiring and wonderful images. did you use any filters for the landscape shots? the image of the elephant in the sunset is vividly saturated and i am wondering if a polarizer or intensifier was used. thanks.

The only other photos I've seen here...

..that come even close to these are mustard's underwater pics. But these are perhaps even better. I am amazed. Noone else here is at this level.

If I ever needed proof that 6MP is enough for greatness, I no longer do.
