320MP pic with 20D

Hi,

i've just done a 320 MP panorama of Algier (21 000 x 15 000) made of 120 shot at 200 mm f5

Taken with 20D and 70 200 f4

Thanks to zoomify plugin you'll be able to navigate trough the pic:

i realized that some parts of the pic is a little soft, due to the weakness of the lens in the corner. I should have used f8 or f11.

I'll make another try with a 100 400 but have to wait till the end of the summer: the visibility is too bad now (the shots were taken last winter)

PS: at what time was the shot taken ?

Cyril.

sounds very interesting but I wonder what the size of the file is. The enormous dimensions you've mentioned sound somewhat threatening considering my limited connection speed...:)

Re: 320MP pic with 20D

the tif size is .... more or less 1 GO

but you won't have to download it of course: i use a plugin the display the pic that allow you to zoom in and download only the necessary data

How is it so "amazing" that people don't want to add software to their system just to view a picture? Windows has enough problems as it is without adding random software from the internet on a daily basis.

Re: jeez

Instead of asking the photographer for an alternate method of viewing, all he gets is a one line sentence about a plugin. It obviously took this person some time planning and PPing this photo. The least one can do is offer a little constructive criticism.

It's no plugin, it's flash (swf)

thank you for your support and i understand that people don't want to install something on their computer.

But i wasn't clear, it's not a plugin you have to install. it's in flash so you don't take any risk getting on the page

Any idea how long it takes to download? I've had the hour-glass for a couple of minutes now. I really want to see it but nothing is happening.

Enjoyed the view...

of your neighborhood. I didn't have any problems viewing your image. The detail is amazing. I could zoom in and actually see the men working in the dock area and the gulls flying over the water.

Good job with the processing work!!

Amazing work

Thanks for sharing... very cool. Could you provide some details on how you stitched them all together, and your method for capture?

Very cool.

The most extraordinary thing is the number of satellite dishes and their mountings!

It appears it was your provider and not a plugin issue. Great detail.
