With the price announcement of the D7D and dealers clearing their inventory of old stuff for the new crop, I couldn't resist an E-1, 14-54mm f2.8-3.5, Sigma 55-200 f4-5.6, and FL-20 package for $100 less than the D7D body alone (On it's way). Sure I miss out on AS, 2.5" LCD, and M7D ergonomics, but I gain a professional waterproof body and lens, no dust issues, and the most film-like output I've ever seen (ergonomics are a close second too).

Best thing is, I checked out the E-1 about 6 months ago and it was $1800 for body, $500 lens, and $200 for the flash. Wouldn't you plunge also if the D7D with a G lens was half of list? I won't regret the purchase, and it's not like me and the E-1 are getting married, so I'll still follow the D7D testing, samples, and QC for a possible future purchase.

My Maxxum 7 film is gone on ebay, and now I have to decide... am I really ready to sell my Maxxum 70-210 f4 and 28-135 f4-4.5? Or should I keep them for when the D7D is a better value? Many of us have waited together for the D7D. Bonding by trials!--we've sweated, ranted, lost sleep, conjectured, scoured the web for hints, and I know it's going to be a doozie of a camera; but KM pushed me out by pricing it too high for my stomach. I'll still pop in now and then when not out taking pictures. For now, the E-1 fits me like spandex and I'm really jazzed to recieve that box next week.

Best of luck!

Cheers, Seth

Where did you find this set from Olympus for such a low price? I have already heard about this but failed to find anything close to 1500USD for E1 + 14-55 + Sigma 55-200 + fl20.

One of the members of the OTF was cleaning house. Wanted to lose a few extra kits before the new stuff comes in. There are no more E-1 kits available, and because the price is below manufacturers allowed advertised price, you won't find anything like it posted anywhere. I got really lucky to get a lead over on the OTF and purchased the last kit. Arlington Camera has a good reputation, and I know they could give you a competitive price in the future, but I think this deal was a limited time/word of mouth offer. Give them a call and see what they can do, but I know there are several on the list if this particular deal comes back around.

There are several threads over there concerning E-1 deals. What an incredible value! Good luck.
