Just want to share some new pics from South Africa. Most are
outdoor pics.

I must say that these photos are very a impressive testament to you and this camera. I am impressed by the detail and colors balance. I have always been impressed by the output from this camera and I seriously considered this camera until I saw stories of quality contol problems like spots on the photos from long exposures. What is your experience? After all if the camera is in the shop it can't take photos.

QC problem exists and mine has hot spot (only 1) and also back dot (many) on long exposure. However, I seldom do the 100% zoom or long exposure so I can live with the defect of this little cam. As you said, if the cam is in the shop, you can never take photos, so my suggestion is going to pick one with the shop offering good return policy and try it yourself.

Your pictures look good on here, but today PC world gave the P600 a so so rating as far as picture quality goes, with the exception of pictures taken in the daylight. what is up with that? any comments from anyone?

I must say first that I am not an expert user.

At the beginning I was very disappointed by pictures taken at ISO higher than 50 and low shutter speed, especially for noise.

After some practice, I realized that with perfect focus and white balance calibration (manual) and not too small aperture it is possible to get very nice pictures even up to ISO200. I still could not take very nice pictures with a lot of light (I mean very short shutter time, but perhaps I should try to keep aperture not too small and have even shorter time).
I do not know if it is just a question of aperture more than shutter time.
I am still experimenting.

To answer to the question, I could take nice pictures (perhaps just good luck) even in dark situations. I will try to post some when I will have understood how to do.

I will say again that I am very impressed by the detail in these
photos. I am especially impressed by 1303CIMG.jpg. I would love to
see a 100% crop from that one if you could post it. The detail in
the large tower is most impressive.

Thanx for the photos. Very nice. I was surprised to see penguins in South Africa. I always thought they lived in the cold poles. :)

The duck arrest photo is hillarious...What were they doing actually? Some sort of cleaning act? Or is the one lying down actually dead? :)

I also have a misconception that South Africa is a very hot place, however, the southern part of SA is actually very close to the south pole and the temperature there could be below zero degree in July.

The one is not dead and actually he just like a gangster and try to run away from those 3 guys. And finally he has to fallback to the pool and leave the territory of those guys.
