Veronica [13 Images] *Broadband*

It provided the perfect backdrop to showcase this beauty... no competition from the surroundings. Perfect job! I love the vibrant colors... the evocative poses... the sunflower prop... everything just "clicks" wonderfully!

Nice work Mattias! And that is a very pretty girl. I'm definitely moving to Stockholm!
But seriously:

I don't think you will drive bus for long. You'll do like Shay, start a new career as a photographer.
Looking forward to more pictures!

Hello friends!

A few days ago, Veronica contacted me, asking if I could photograph
her. She had seen pictures I've taken' of a friend of her and she
felt like do some modelling too, just for fun.
She and her family used to live next door and I've known her since
her smile showed off a cute set of milk teeths. Haha
Anyway, so I asked her - what kind of photography do ya wanna do?
Just anykind, she said. I'll leave that to you.
Ok, so I came up with this idea........

Yesterday, I picked her up at 5 in the morning and off we went. I
figured it could be nice shooting her at a wooden bridge by a lake
in the break of dawn. But instead of a warm sun we got a massive
fog. But that didn't stop us. Infact, I think it was a rather cool
shooting situation and I'm happy with the outcome. I brought a
breakfast picnic basket and we had a great time........

(If you feel that a few of the pics could need a little level and
contrast tweak, please consider that this was what it looked like,
in the morning fog.)

My best advice is: Bring many and big memory sticks! Shoot! Shoot!
Shoot! Try every possible/Impossible settings. This morning I got
home with approx. 200 images. :o)

Regards / Mattias
Would you mind shareing a few camera settings with me. The
questions I have are:

1. I take it your still using your 717?
2. Did you use flash ? and if so what model?
3. Did you use a tripod?
4. What was the metering mode you used?
5. any other information you might deem helpful.

I know these are a lot of questions, but I ask due to everytime I
try and do something similar, the pics are never as sharp as I see
here.

Thanks in advance and thanks for shareing your work.

... when the sun didn't show up - after all, we had got up 04:30 to shoot her in the first rays of light. But when the fog started to sweap in, I got ignited again. I've had this idea of shooting portraits in the early morning mist before, but there is far many more sunny mornings in sweden than foggy. I guess we got a bit lucky! :o)

Liam would just love it! He gets crazy (happy) around other children. Sometimes he get so exhited that he scare the other children to tears. He reach out for them, laughs, "talks", scream "Ba ba ba! Da da daaaa! DAA! Gaga!"

Liam has learnt two "real" words. His first (quite common I guess) was "Titta!" (Look!) and he goes "Titta! Tii-tiii-titta! Tiiiiitta!" day'n'night!

Sometimes (when he sleeps in our bed) I wake up in the night becasue he lie on his back, staring and pointing at the fan in the ceiling sayin' "Titta! Tii-tii-tiitta! Titta!".....

His second word was "Tack" (Thank you) Mom has taught him to say "tack" when he gets his gruel at night. So when she (or I) hand him the feeding bottle he goes "Tack! Tack!". Haha So cool!

Mattias
Mattias my friend this is a very nice photo shoot, make room at the
house I'm coming to visit and bring a play friend for Liam LOL :o)

... professional, but I don't have the guts (yet anyway). I think the competition is extremely hard and sometimes I think - will there be a need for professional photograpers when every second household nowadays has great digital cameras? What do ya recon?

The pictures you took are of very nice quallity-technically speaking.

I do have some words of critique for your model.
First, let me say that I think she is very good looking indeed.

However, I do think she looks way too sad and depressed both in facial expression and in posture (pic 3 ).

I think next time, when you work with her,

Make her relax and tell her some jokes or something, just to make her giggle, and make sure she doesn't sit or stand in a slumpish way.
I am sure that you know how to achieve that with your silly sense of humour.:-)

Bye now,

Wonderful shots, bueatifull model, The fog really did the shots great justice. It gives the pictures a soft, and romantic feeling. I love them. You should be proud of them. There great!

... is a very happy and jolly person - talks, jokes and laughs all the time and we had a great, fun and relaxed shooting. But she doesn't like her own smile, so to speak, and she doesn't feel comfortable smiling at the camera. She told me that she feel more pretty when she has this sad look (or non-smiling-face).

Nevertheless, I got plenty of shots of her smiling and laughing that I think is very nice. We had a long shooting, (with breaks for munshing some picnic breakfast) about 4,5 hour and I ended up with approx 200 images. But when I asked her if I could post a few on the forum, she said: Yes, of course - but please, take the non-smiling pics. I like them the most!

Personally, I like the sad look (or "contemplative look") for some reason. Don't ask me why, but I tend to prefer sad, angry, surprised, shocked, tired, bored etc. looks over the happy look. I think maybe it's becasue 95% of all portraits has this "Say Cheeze"-feeling, if you know what I mean.

Am I the only one who feel this way? Haha

The shooting took quite a turn from what I had planned, but I think it took a turn for the better! I gotta try shooting in the mist again sometimes, it was interesting.
