A couple of things I found helpful using the R72 and the 5700. Turn off auto contrast, reduce saturation and turn off sharpening. Take test shots of the same scene with different levels of contrast and shutter speeds to find what works for you. then process after. A washed out looking photo can be dealt with easier than a blown photo so seek to reduce the blowouts. Also I use a cable release and braket exposures. Here's some I posted in Samples and Galleries a few days ago. The first was taken in shade and the second was behind the first scene in bright light. In fact it is the bright area in the center of the first. All these are with this camera/filter combination. All required post processing. Good luck with your efforts.
