FCAS Application

Here's my mugshot of a Dahlia. I "borrowed" this specimen from a neighbor, in return for a print. It seemed an appropriate flower for this weekend, as it evokes images of a fireworks explosion.

The setup, courtesy of my 5700:

The original capture and exif data:

Date/Time 01-Jul-2004 22:26:35
Make Nikon
Model NIKON D70
Flash Used No
Focal Length 65 mm
Exposure Time 1/10 sec
Aperture f/11
ISO Equivalent 200
Exposure Bias -2/3
White Balance
Metering Mode center weighted (2)
JPEG Quality (6)
Exposure Program aperture priority (3)

Editing steps:
Rotate horizontally, tilt, crop.
Adjust levels.
Select background using the magic wand at 15% tolerance in non-contiguous mode.
Expand selection by 1 pixel, feather selection by 1 pixel.
Invert selection, and place subject on a new layer.
Replace background with a blue-to-black gradient.
Flatten image.
Downsize and sharpen.
Add custom Omni-shadow frame (which includes bevel for the picture area).
Add embossed signature.

Happy 4th of July to all!
