Do you still prefer a D70 over a hacked 300D?

Re: Do you still prefer a D70 over a hacked 300D?

I visited a friend last night and I got the chance to actually hold and play with a Digital Rebel.

I truly do not understand how anyone could choose this camera over the D70. The Digital Rebel feels like a flimsy toy in your hand. As Phil said in his review, the D70 feels like 10x more camera. It looks and feels much more professional (to say nothing of the technical advantages that it actually has). Heck, my 3 year old Sony S85 feels a lot better built than the DR. I didn't really care for the cameras operation nor did I care for the viewfinder.

The D70 seems to fit my hands perfectly, with all controls all easily accessible and in logical places. I didn't get that feeling at all with the Digital Rebel. I guess that is just because I am used to the Nikon layout, but the Digital Rebel really seemed inferior.

Hacking the Digital Rebel doesn't really introduce any features that would make me choose it over the D70. The hack just adds a few features that should have been in the Digital Rebel to begin with.

I suppose some people may claim that it's all about the pictures (which is true to some extent), but I think my D70 can take as good/better pictures than a Digital Rebel.

All in all, would I do things differently if I could buy a hacked Rebel for less money? Heck No. To me Nikon is still superior in every way (even with the DR hack).
