for John and Juli

The posterization looks a LOT like what I ran into using ACR to convert my Mark II files.

For extreme examples see here, a repost of mine from Rob Galbraith's forums.

Have any of you noticed excessive shadow noise (even in low ISO 200 - 250) files converted with ACR2.2? This is a recurrent problem I have been experiencing with RAW file conversion (1D Mk.II).

Here are links to 100% crops:

ACR2.2:

DPP:

Also, I artificially boosted the posterization to make it easier to see:

ACR2.2:

DPP:

I've tried reducing the Shadows slider to 0 from its default of 5, which helps a bit, but not by much. I've never seen this behavior from ACR2.1 and 2.0 converting thousands of 10D RAW files.

John, have you seen the same thing with ACR 2.2? Juli, I highly recommend DPP or EVU for MarkII files. I have given up on ACR for my MarkII stuff.
