Nikon is sending all its distributors an updare of Nikon Capture which will allow it to operate with Sony Vaio laptops. This should be available to existing users within a week or so. The D1-Vaio link requires a 6pin to 4pin firewire cable. Nikon say they have two versions depending on the Vaio model: VCMIL4415 & VCMIL4615.

Do you know if Nikon has also revised the Nikon View software to interface

with the Sony I have the Vaio Z505R. I know the view software is not all that great, but should firmware rev's become available the view might still do the trick.

Sorry, no news on View, but since Nikon have moved so quickly to fix Capture for the Sony laptops, it must be likely that they will upgrade View as well.

Correction. The cable supplied by Sony which links the D1 with the Vaio series laptops is part no: VMC-IL 4615. It is available from Sony Direct for about $50 or £37. The updated Capture software which is promised to work with this link is due for distribution "within days".

I read a message from a Nikon tech on http://www.nikontechusa.com/ that stated that a revised version of View is on its way out... It should be available within days... The update will be posted and available for download through http://www.nikontechusa.com/message.htm .
