Yes, it really is a versatile lens. It is interesting that it was made for portraits, but it is just the right focal length and size for taking a lot of outdoor images. And you can get that wonderful bokeh, if you let it rip wide open.
I've been using the 70-200 f2.8 for many years and feel that it's
the best all-around lens Canon has to offer.
