Image stablilization is a very essential feature of a good ultra zoom camera and any camera with good zoom but lacking this feature would suffer.
All the ultra-zoom cameras face problems like purple fringing, barrel distortion, auto-focus problem, focus delay and shutter lag.
S1 suffers a lot in purple fringing and lacks in auto-focus capabilities and image noise(if anybody wants to say about it, speak freely). it excels in shutter-lag though. another feature is it's awesome movie mode with zoom.
Other contender includes panasonic's fz-10, kodak dx-6490 and oly's c-750(or c-770).
Only fz-10 has IS but it is way much costly. it features a very good lens(leica). the other two does it's job well without IS and their price is cheap(considering fz-10). of these two c-750 wins because of it's manual controls and image quality.
So, S1 is the best ultrazoom camera or does it still lack better capabilities?
