one of those chunks look like a thread. check the inside of the lens, it may actually be there. also your work space may not be clean enough, or your transfering dirt without being aware of it.

you also may be cleaning it right, but there may be dust on the sides, and each time the mirror clicks, it shakes it up and it sticks once again.

It took me eight tries to get my sensor clean. Perhaps we'll both get better with practice. Be careful not to touch anything on the inside of the camera (or anywhere else) with the pad before you touch the sensor. Use the wiping action he describes and, above all, be patient!

Okay...now over two hours have past and 33 images later, and ten or more swipes, I'm getting nothing accomplished. I have tried various pressures, no more than 2 drops of eclipse and here is what I now have:

HERE was my first attempt:

Try using only two drops of eclipse. You should only very slightly
moisten the pad.

So what do I do if I can't get this cleaned?

I had similar looking 'stuff' on my 1D sensor when I just got it.. I was worried..but then I used a big air blower and was able to get it out.

Look familiar?

try to shoot at f/4...if you can see the stuff still...then it might be in-between your AA-filter and sensor...and that needs to go to canon service center...

AND...just to make sure if that's the case... if after a few swipes, the stuff DOES NOT move at all...that means it is indeed the case... because the 'dust' is supoosed to move after dry/wet clean.

Hey John...it certainly looks like somethng I need to send out for. I can't imagine any more swipes will help. I'll try f/4 and strong blower.

Try that...and let us know. you should not see anything using f4 or f5.6.

Here's same sky shot at 1/30 f/4.5:

I also now notice a spec through the viewfinder and not on the image/file...

Humm...it certainly can't be the dry Colorado climate causing my problem - could it??

Thanks,
Richard

hmmm...it looks fine. I think it might be worth to have someone try to do the clean for you. The stuff you showed in your earlier emais look like some kind of small hair... from this pic your sensor looks fine.

I am not sure if canon would do sensor clean for free even it's under warranty...but worth to have your local shop or canon give it a shot. my local shop in Seattle charges $39 and they do a good job.

Good luck.

I still have over a week left on my warranty. I called Canon and was told it's covered under the warranty...so is it a no-brainer to just send it in for a Canon cleaning???
