Hello,
I am trying to choose between the 300D and Nikon70D. I now have an
oly 5050 but I really miss the zoom. I know this question comes up
a lot but I am still confused.
Thanks
No need to be confused, unless you are in such a big hurry that have you no time to investigate.Hello,

I had almost decided to get the D70 but based on the price and
potential problems with the D70, I opted to go with the 300D.
Costco had a deal I could not refuse!
Now, if it would only get here quicker..... I should have gotten
express shipping!

BUT you must "suffer" the life of a troll and be
relegated to whining in here about the lack of features...
Gee, who would that help?Come to think of it, you'll only be in here whining about the fact
that your camera is crippled if you get the 300d, so you might as
well get the D70 so you can whine about the moire and Sony CCD
instead... but, despite the image probs associated with that CCD,
you'll always be able to custom tweak every setting without a hack,
tweak, or workaround, but you'll still have gripes, whines, and
moans...
So I guess you ought to get the 10D, some great wide angle glass
(people seem to like the Sigma 15-30), and be content because
otherwise you'll have something to moan about in here, and I don't
like those posts, so I'd rather tell you to get something else lest
you get amnesia and be back in here in a few weeks telling me via a
post that you wanted to be able to change focusing screens and you
want a pentamirror instead.
Hope that helps,
Pingme,
Your choice is not really the D70 vis-à-vis the 300D... the costs
of the 10D and the D70 are similar, and the functionality of each
is comparable...
Therefore, you must decide if you want a sub-$1000 dSLR or a ~$1400
one...
If you decide you want the sub-$1000 one, then you get an added
bonus of having a wide-angle lens built-in with the kit... AND the
CMOS sensor... BUT you must "suffer" the life of a troll and be
relegated to whining in here about the lack of features...
I got the sub-$1000 and I am extremely happy with it.
I could have gone for the 10D and been extremely happy with that,
too, if I felt like I needed to jack-up all the settings and if I
wanted to forgo the wide end until I got a few extra bucks...
If you want to spend D70 money, then compare it to the 10D...
because those are comparably priced cams... I think you'll find
that the CMOS sensor is the key comparison there, and the lens
system... personally, I don't like the Nikon cpu-lens design (but
that's a fight I've had with my friends for years because they've
been F5 lovers)
If you want the CMOS, a wide lens, and a little bit of learning to
know how to tweak the EOS into the custom functions you desire, and
want to spend under $1000, get the 300D...
UNLESS, you cannot live without second-curtain synch...
the rest of the things have workarounds, tweaks, and hacks, not to
mention gripes, concerns, and whines...
Come to think of it, you'll only be in here whining about the fact

What kind of photography do you enjoy doing? And what is your budget? The 300D kit is about $300 less than the D70 kit. Canon DSLR images tend to be better straight out of the camera than Nikon DSLR images. This is particularly true of JPEG images. Also, Canon images are generally considered to have less noise than Nikon images. That's because Canon uses a CMOS sensor of their own design and manufacture. Also, the 300D has been established on the market for several months now. The D70 just came out, and it looks like it still has some kinks to work out. In the D70's favor, it has features that the 300D doesn't have, like flash exposure compensation, focus mode selection, and a larger JPEG buffer.Hello,

Being a Costco member, I'm curious as to the deal you got and would
appreciate any details you could provide.
Thanks in advance

What's your budget? And which EOS lenses do you already have? More details on your situation will help people give you more detailed recommendations.Hello,
I am going to be doing a lot of wildlife photos and I will need
zooming. I also have older eos lenses from my automatic canon film
slr.
