Don't buy from this dealer ...

I got this response yesterday. Apparently this Steve fellow wants to convince me that his claims are legit. Maybe he could use some additional feedback from folks here ?

Subject: Fraud against consumers ...

Dear Sir or Madam:

This website sells camera lenses by deliberately misrepresenting them to be a "PRO" (for professional) version. According to the manufacture of the lens there is no such model.

They are located in:
ExpressCameras.com
1090 King Georges Post Road.
Suite 307
Edison, NJ 08837

How is this company able to blatantly sell this ?

The manufacturer clearly states that this is fraud:

I wasn't meaning to be patronising towards you. I didn't mean to stike a nerve. Nothing I wrote was meant to be personal, yet it elicited a personal response from yourself. It's my personal view that EBay is a haven for scammers... I also said, when used legitimately it can be of value. The trouble is, it's little more than classified ads that have gone national. So, who's patronising who in their response?

For the record, I don't like poetry, but analogies I do like, both weak and strong. I also like long walks on the beach, candlelit dinners, and watching the moonlight dancing playfully in the eyes of my lover while we talk endlessly into the evening about MTF charts, PF/CA, QC issues at Canon, and the mystery that is Foveon. Call me if you're interested in forming a lasting relationship. ;-)

Best of luck on Ebay, it works for lots of folks (as does crossing busy streets without paying a lick of attention to the traffic!)

If I'm going to be patronising, or accused or it, I might as well go all out.
To clarify my position, I don't view buying online as a generally
good way of shopping but I do view ebay as a competitive
alternative.

My personal view that certainly didn't call for a patronising
response from somebody who works hard, does a lot of homework and
likes poetry and weak analogies.

If they don't sell grey market why do they have two prices for the 100-400IS? The sku is the same except the "i" on the end.

For all your answers about 17photo.com

I will buy my 70-200 from them today
You won't regret buying from them, they shipped mine over the three
day Holiday and I didn't even get to track it- here 2 days ahead of
what B&H takes- I know because I had a lens coming from them also.
Both are great to do business with.

I never knew you cared!!!!!

When you work out the dastardly Foveon mystery let me know.
