O.K. all of you sketch artist's, and I know there are several of you who love to do this kind of work. I took the most precious photo of one of my nieces and would love to see the MAGIC you sketch artist can do on this image. Thanks in Advance for your help.

Didn't use an action.. just did it "freehand"....

angled strokes, fade, contrast, saturation, crosshatch, fade, history brush...

The ability to 'see' the shot is more important than what you use to take the shot.

Here's the result of sketch process I worked out before Christmas, surprisingly Isabel had dubbed it my "Rockwell" technique lol. I was planning to actionate it but I've been busy. Meanwhile, I see the Rockwell name got taken. Let me know how you like it. Most of the other pics I've done with it i've extracted first from the background, e.g., see this one:

Mike, I'm at home now, so I'll get it tomorrow I guess at work. I really need to change my email address anyway so I get them at home. Probably would be better huh! I have a very easy going job this time of year and it is not a problem to get all the email at work at this time, but when I get swamped Mid February through November, I'll never see the emails at work then. Anyway, I am sure you emailed your instructions, so THANKS SO MUCH.

MikeF,

Great Job. I knew you guys would know what to do. I just downloaded your Rocky 2 action, (Thanks for sharing it also), but I could not exactly duplicate your rendition, but I am sure you put a loose white vigenette around it, and probably some darkening that I can play with in the future. But, again, Thanks so much for the action and photo work. Greatly appreciated.

Sheri,

Thanks for "THE ROCKWELL", version. Who stole THE ROCKWELL, how rude. Oh Well, If I were you, I'd still take credit for all your hard work.

Thanks Ingrid, we think she is too. And such a NATURAL smile. You know how hard it is to get kids to pose, but I just caught her off guard on this one, and it came out just like this. All I did was crop a little off the top of the original photo. Everything else was untouched. Talk to you again soon.

P.S. Keep dropping those CS hints to the hubby, he give in, trust me.

Wow, Rudiman. Looks like a color chalk effect. Would you mind
explaining your techniques. Could this also be an action?? Thanks
for the wonderful version.

Thanks very much, i'm addicted to this sketching stuff. LOL Well lets see if i can remember. First i cropped it a bit, then dodges around the edges, took a blur tool and blended the tree, then i think i ran Mikes insta sketch beta and blended pencil layer in luminosity mode around 58%....hmmm then i think i just went in and cleaned it up real quick with the clone stamp and adjusted levels. Just a quickie took about 5-10 minutes. Lovely picture to start with, very nice.

You have some beautiful frames on your page, now if i could only figure out how to use them? Any tips for this PE2 newbie? I've learned so much in a short amount of time but this is a new one to me. I got one to work using MGI photosuite just by cropping and merging the pics together LOL but i know it has to be easier in PE2.

I tried instasketch and had what I thought was a pretty good one until I went to close out my ps and then I saw the original. My sketch, while not bad, just didn't do her justice. Here's why, imo:

... a natural beauty!
