Mini Challenge #796: Felines

Thank you!

Thank you, Alwyn! (pics not entries or exhibits)

I'm with you on zoos - try not to go there, but now and then we get hooked into taking grandkids to the Philly zoo, which is a double negative to me because I'm not a fan of cities either. The kids love it!

This gorilla looked so deeply sad (and I don't blame him!), that I felt bad for quite a while, too.

She is a real cutie!

Dak,

Didn't even pay attention to the dates until you mentioned them. Is the recent shot with your kitty?
Never owned any of those cats (well, if you ask them, they own you). Two of them were acquired by the operator of a riding school I was living with at the time for the sake of rodent control. The third one (largest head by far, striped like the female of the siblings but with an orange shimmer) decided to join the others' rewards and duties (in this order) some day. She is the one who taught the others the benefits of trash cans, trash bags, and stale bread buns. Also traverses the largest territory.

We don't know for a fact whether she is spayed because the vet was too afraid for her life (the vet's life, that is) to check that closely. But she is chipped and tattooed, with no-one having registered the marks. One guess is that it might have been some animal protection group that may have spayed and rereleased her.
If I had to pick a favorite, it would have to be the building inspector, but he/she should have been wearing a hard hat.
Most cats I know exhibit a shocking disregard for heights.
Although I have witnessed (and helped descend) many meowing for assistance once they reached the pinnacle of their ascent.

We once had an orange tomcat for half a year (he wandered by at a few months of age and stuck around). With him, that would have been a recipe for a bloodied nose.

Ever seen a cat starve in a tree?

The black&white was actually probably half a year old when climbing a pine tree probably 40ft in height and then clamoring for rescue. After a few hours he tired of it and slowly backed down the tree. It was tricky because of all the ivy blocking the sight. And yes, we were rather worried. But he was way too high to reach with our ladders.

I miss the regular pics we used to get of these guys!
As it grows colder, the photographic output of my visits there improves. The time before the last I visited, I saw Klette for about all of 30 seconds (she came for breakfast just before I left, having skipped the other meals). They are outside at night anyway because they make too much of a ruckus at too early a time otherwise.

My son's cat, Mona. His wife is a veterinarian and saw this very young cat get hit by a car. Fortunately, she was able to rescue her.

When we brought Reggie home from the animal shelter she was a tiny kitten. She immediately bonded with our then young son, to the exclusion of everyone else.

This interaction did not end well.

We no longer have a pet. Our neighbor has many.

Thanks Jerry. I also had a scan of an OLD photograph, so no complaints from me!
Sorry for the condition of these. they were scanned in from photos I took back in the days of film with a Canon EOS camera.
Something in this image really appeals to me. Maybe a sort of stark, harsh look?
Well, water is water I suppose...

You can just see the puzzlement and confusion in the cat's face: what IS this small thing???

Ouch, that last one looks painful! Love the expression on #3's face!
