We spent a wonderful 5 days in Paris end of August. While there was some rain a couple of days, it was a really beautiful time to be here.

Of course, no amount of pictures can truly do justice to this beautiful city, but sharing a few of my favorites.

C&C welcome.

The thing I enjoyed the most was walking along the Seine, so will start with a few shots of the beautiful cityscapes to be had at almost any place along the river

1. Pont Des Arts with the Institut de France on the left

2. Musee d'Orsay from Pont du Carrousel - just as a storm cleared and the setting sun came out under the clouds

One can't help but be distracted from the sights by the equally high-quality food, and the venues the food is imbibed in

3. Place setting ready at a restaurant in the Montmartre neighborhood

4. No better way to start a morning in Paris than fresh baked croissants and breads

5. Or Cruffins

With the occasional side-walk bar when my camera and I needed a break

6. Taking a break from the sights with a half-pint in a side-walk cafe-bar

This handsome fella was taking a break too - right in front of the Louvre on Pont Royal

7. Just taking a break from all the walking

And then there's the tower - there is no escaping it anywhere in Paris

8. From the Place du Trocadero - one of the best places for a complete view since its at the perfect height and distance

9. Zooming in to the base gives a sense of its scale

No visit to Paris can be complete without a trip or three to the Louvre. I will only take a couple of personal favorites - everyone knows there are high quality images to be looked at elsewhere.

10. The Coronation of Napoleon - Jacques-Louis David at the Louvre

11. The Sabines - also by Jacques-Louis David

Thanks for watching. Hope you like them and C&C welcome.

Beautiful images. I especially like the two bakery shots -- croissants in the morning, and the cruffins. I never heard of a cruffin before, but seeing your capture, I want some!

Only one suggestion: Dial down the green in the sky of No. 1.

Thanks Harwood. The desserts were numerous, creative and delicious.

It’s a good thing Paris is a walking city, otherwise I would have carried more than my fair share of pounds back with me 😀

It was quite a dynamic sky for sure, changing by the minute. Quite easy to go too far one way or the other, appreciate your feedback.

Thank you for sharing these wonderful images.

I just took a second, slower trip through all of these shots, and I am very impressed with the image quality delivered by that Sony.

Thanks Harwood. Completely agree, the camera and the lenses have been holding up well together.

Your pictures of the pictures are so lovely. The picture. Now to me, that is what i call ART. Even today i'm astounded that a human hand can do stuff as these works of art.

So true, it is indeed astounding. I have another posting coming up on a Florence visit right after this one, and the scale and realism of the sculptures just blew my mind. David especially.

Nice set.

Really enjoyed the light in #2 ; the yum in #5 and how well your captured the paintings in #10 & #11.

Have to admit I never attempted to photograph any of the artworks when I visited the Louvre but now looking at your 2 captures I am questioning why I didn't!

Thanks Matt - much appreciated.

Not all museums have the conditions right to take decent quality pictures - either you don't have the space to get the painting in without someone always being in the way (especially the large ones), or there is a perspective distortion, or there is a glare from some light you cant get rid of without moving too far to one side which again affects perspective, or like with the Mona Lisa, there are just too darn many people and its behind glass.

I tried to take pics only when all these boxes were ticked, which was not often.
