Is there a service anywhere to pay for Godox lights-triggers firmware updates?

Would rather send my equipment UPS for a charge than have to deal with this every time. Some people do not have the time or patience for it.

I'm not sure if these guys can help but I'd contact MoLight and see if they can help. They are the only place (that I am aware of hopefully there are more) that fixes broken Godox gear. Good luck and let us know what you find out.

Thanks, I sent them an email. Have a nice day.

In the US, Flashpoint Lighting (Adorama), Molight , and Cheetah Stand (Ed Tang) can all do out of warranty service/repair on Godox gear, and would be happy to do firmware updating for you. In Canada, Vistek also does out of warranty Godox repair. All of them would probably be happy to do firmware updating for you.

Flashpoint Lighting also does in-warranty support for Adorama's Flashpoint R2 rebranded Godox gear if you purchased from them.

Thanks, how about B&H Photo? I will call them tomorrow since I can drop it off there rather than UPS it.

Also, AFAICT, the G1 and G2 firmware installers only run on obsolete versions of Windows. So updating firmware on devices that require these installers might require a dedicated PC.

I don't know, but usually whatever Adorama does, they do, so I think it's worth calling to find out.

Um. I was able to install and I can run both G1 and G2 on Windows 11. On 10 or 11, though, you have to turn off driver signing so you can install/run the custom USB driver they use, as they were released before driver signing was a thing.

It's Mac users who can only use G3.

But also, if you need G2, the files are just DFU (Device Firmware Upgrade) format, so you could also use dfu-util if you're a command line geek.

I did try turning off driver signing, but it didn't work, I turned it on again, and it's staying on.

Thankyou!

Dfu-util worked fine. After I remembered that G2 devices only work with a USB A->C cable. Turned out that I have a few DFU devices, so I was briefly worried about bricking the wrong one.

I had tried downloading the STMicroelectronics DfuSe tools, but there seemed to be some problem with their website.

PRC strobe uses French microcontroller with English CPU, made in RoC.

That leaves my collection of TT685Ns ...

One of the several reasons why I have upgraded my Godox gear to current models is that their firmware can be updated with the "G3" firmware update software that runs on both Windows and macOS. Earlier versions ran only on Windows. G3 has worked easily and reliably for me.

Also, I buy Flashpoint-branded versions of Godox hardware from Adorama for their US warranty and helpful tech support. I live in NYC, and prior to the Mac-compatible G3 updater, I brought my Flashpoint gear to Adorama for in-store updates a couple of times.

Not sure where you're located, but PROCAM (Detroit, Chicago, Cincinnati in the US) will update your firmware for a fee. Not sure if you can ship it to them though.

The hassle of updating Godox firmware is one of the reasons I've moved to Westcott.
