OK so I'm not a Pro, not even an advanced amateur. I just like shooting scenery, landscapes and travel photos. Not too often have I felt the need to edit a RAW file to fix or enhance anything. I've usually been happy with SOOC JPEG files. This has been especially the case since getting the R6 Mark II.

The images are sharp, very sharp. The colors are perfect to my eye (Auto Picture Style) and clearly all the in camera corrections are working just fine for the non-L lenses I'm using.

I'm happy, very happy.

Kind of makes me wonder whether I over-bought by getting this body. Would this level of JPEG quality be available on a lesser body, maybe even the APS-C models like the R7 or R10? How much of it is the FF sensor?

Anyway, I just wanted to say that I think this is great.

Depends entirely on your output requirements.

If you ever do need some additional capability, shooting RAW and converting with a top-tier noise reduction program will gain you about 2 stops (IME).

The r6ii is indeed an incredible camera. I've been delighted with mine since Day 1.

Yes, an R8, or even an R6 (OG).

With crop, you'll lose just over a stop.

It was an instant classic the moment it hit the streets! Enjoy!

Output is likely to be, 80% of the time, electronic (computer, tablet, large TV) but for some shots, prints are possible and then likely no larger than 11x14 or so.

Yes it seems to me that only noise would be a case where I might want to run the RAW file through DxO (for instance).

Shooting raw gives a dynamic range advantage even without noise reduction.
