After a slow start to the day at Kissena Park here in NYC, I found a spot on the trail between the marsh and the woods that were full of small birds. I felt like a kid in a candy store as I moved around for different opportunities and compositions. The wooded area is on a hillside and there are stairs going up the hill with a few platforms. These photos are taken from the lower platform about 1/3 up the hill.

Nicely done. 1 and 2 are my favorites. Especially 1 - the dark colors with the splash of red/orange with that rust background is such a bold image.

3 looks fantastic too at small size, but when I see full size, it somehow gives me cognitive dissonance. The slightly out of focus beak and the position of the neck makes it look like an optical illusion - kind of like a Picasso or even Dali painting.

Great work all around.

Thank you,

The DOF is rather shallow yet stopping down was not an option due to the lack of light

Amazing images, Morris.

You have perfect sharpness on the eyes, with blurred wings depicting the motion. Accomplished only with knowledge and precision execution.

Kid in a candy store, indeed ... and just got his allowance, which is burning a hole in his pocket. :-D

Cheers,

Arnie

Thank you Arnie,

I told my camera focus on the birds eye and it did.
