Hi I have both Z 180-600 and Z 600 f6.3, I've compared them and truth be told I love em both but the main reason I think to keep the prime is the weight and is a little sharper especially in the corners, I mainly shoot wildlife and one has to go, So I was thinking should I keep the 180-600 and add the Z 70-180 f2.8 or keep the Prime and add the Z 100-400, Which way would you think is best? Thanks;)

I have the 180-600 and the 600 f6.3. I also have the 100-400.

I've stopped using the 180-600 and 600 since getting the 400TC, but still use the 100-400.

If I had to sell one I think it would be the 180-600 as it's heavier, larger, and not quite as good as the 600 in terms of image quality and smooth bokeh.

Sell the 180-600 due to the weight.

I only own the 600 f6.3, but when I bought it, I was debating between it and the 180-600. I really love prime lenses and don't mind the extra cost, so I vote sell the 180-600. Anytime I have ever owned a zoom that long, I tend to zoom out and never really use the range, so I just went for the 600 f6.3, but after buying it, I also realized how amazing the size of it is, you can walk around all day with it.

I personally will be getting the 100-400 to pair it with, it is a dream combo.

I went with the 600/6.3. My logic was I already have the 100-400 and like it very much. Weight and size come into the equation as well but truth be told the 180-600 is not really that much bigger or heavier. And when I will be using the lens the car will be doing most of the work (I don't walk very well or very far anymore).

I was truly on the fence about which one to get. I really like the 600PF and I am very happy with my choice. But I could see someone going with the zoom.

I initially bought the 180-600 first then I saw in a camera shop last month they had a used Z 600 f6.3 for 2900.00 and I bought it right away, You can really feel the weight difference that's for sure; )

When Nikon initially announced the 180-600 in mid 2023 for $1700, a friend of mine pre-ordered one immediately, but there was some shortage and he waited a couple of months. By then, Nikon also announced the 600mm/f6.3 PF @ $4800 and he also ordered one. He managed to sell the 180-600, essentially unused, for a small $100 profit @ $1800. A year later Nikon increased the price from $1700 to $1900.

Back between 2015 and 2019, a bunch of us first bought the 200-500mm/f5.6 AF-S VR and then upgraded to the 500mm/f5.6 PF when that arrived in 2018/2019. At least I tend to use these lenses at the maximum focal length 95% of the time or even more.

I think the 600 PF + 100-400 is a great combo, if one can afford it.
