I lost mine. Evidently PD won’t sell them separately. The rings themselves are nothing special as such stainless steel split rings are commonly sold by fishing tackle suppliers. But for some irritating reason, no one seems to sell the particular size used by PD. 13mm x 8mm where one side is bent so that the entire ring lays flat.

Thank you. Unfortunately they’re not the right size.

Thank you but I already tried that. Those rings only come with the full strap kit and are not sold separately. They would not disclose their suppliers.

Try aliexpress. Not for PD but you’re bound to find them on there. Why not just use a different size?

I’ve tried many with no success.
  • amazon
  • fishing tackle stores
  • aliexpress
  • google
  • perplexity
  • dicks
I was hoping someone here actually put their hands on some.

There are indeed oval shaped split rings readily available. It’s just that the ones used by PD are a very specific size and configuration.
  • 13mm x 8mm
  • Double wrapped
  • levered lay flat

I'm in the same boat. I found these Worth Company X2 Power Oval Split Rings. The size 8 ones are 12mm x 6mm, which is smaller than PD's by 1mm each side, but I wonder if they are close enough to work.

I looked at those. Unfortunately, Worth’s oval rings are not stainless steel. They are zinc or nickel plated.

Is there an issue with them being zinc or nickel plated? Is the concern they will wear out and rust?

Yes, that’s exactly the issue. Rubbing against the metal eyelet on the camera will very quickly wear off the plating thus exposing the bare metal to rust, which in turn becomes abrasive.

Thank you. I appreciate the tip. I have several of those already. I’m looking for oval split rings like the ones PD includes with their straps. I don’t like the way the cord on the PD anchors hang off to one side of the triangular ‘rings’. The oval ring is a much more aesthetically pleasing solution.
