This little beauty is probably the best camera I have owned. Nails the colors and metering. It's a compact 20D with better ISO performance. Every canon shooter should have one in my opinion.

Thank you for taking the time to browse through the pics.

What macro lens are you using? Must get one.

The 100D is a swell camera, does everything right, except maybe not having a 1000 shot battery life, but that's a pro feature found on much heavier bodies, so nevermind me.

I have both the 35 mm and the 60mm macros. The 35 is usually my go to and I heartily recommend every Canon shooter have it in their bag. Not only is it a superb macro lens but a great all-around focal length making it a very versatile lens.

Beautiful and inspired shots. I have a 200D that adds dual pixel autofocus. I don't know wether there’s a difference in the “colour science” between the two. Anyway I don’t worry about that. Most modern cameras work well in that instance.
Got the 200D with a 55-250 stm to complement the focal range of my G1X Mark III.
And now that you mention it, I’m realising that the 35mm macro is indeed a great all rounder lens. The 56mm equivalent on crop is a versatile focal length, added to the 1x macro magnification and the built in macro light. I’ll have to see if it’s still available, as I don’t actually have a prime normal lens.

Lovely shots. Other than the macro, what lens did you use? Are these sooc, processed jpegs, or processed raws?

Other than the macro, used the Kit lens. For many years now, have been shooting RAW. Had been using Canon's DPP to process but for the past year have been using ON1. Thanks for the comments.

Thank you. I wanted to try ON1 but my PC is too old and it does not run on it. I'm toying with the idea of getting a 100D instead of an R100 or R50 so that I will have funds left over to update my PC. When composing a shot like the ladybird, do you use the viewfinder or rear screen? One of the things that I'm worried about with going the DSLR route is being able to focus and reompose shots like that with the viewfider, I'm guessing using the rear screen and live view would yield more keepers.

I use a back focus button on my SL1. It's frankly invaluable when composing. Never used the LCD screen.

I think you might be better off using Canon's DPP. It's simple, straightforward without any of the fancy bells and whistles of some of the other third-party programs.

Good luck!

Thank you. Yes I've used DPP before 👍

Another nice set. I like the composition of the flowers in the pot and the cat shots.

Nice shots, agree. I still use my SL1, I think it was underrated a lot, it's really a great little beast.
